Bad goal to let in for sure by Markstrom, but you can't possibly ignore the completely unacceptable collapse by everyone in the final 2.5 minutes.

To not even battle hard enough to get the puck out of the zone not once, but twice, is inexcusable for a veteran team that was completely rolling all game. That game should never have been close to getting to OT, and for me, the only questionable goal (outside of the winner) is the second one, but even that was just sloppy net front coverage by the D not tying up sticks and clearing the rebound.

Currently 25-18-11, so 14-6-8 should do it.

Yeah, you can blame Markstrom for a rebound, but rebounds happen a lot, especially with an empty net and everyone crashing the crease. Lock it down. A team with the likes of Tanev, Hanifin, Zadorov, Backlund, Lindholm, Coleman etc needs to be able to get that puck out.

Huberdeau is not fast so on D in OT he can be a liability. But he’s also easily the most creative offensive forward, so they need him on the ice to make passes. They need to pair him up properly with fast guys so he’s not the one trying to skate back.

Kadri though, that guy has no OT sense.

after showing some gumption and fortitude in Buffalo - this team once again shows that they are likely very unable to win 4 out of 7 games After April 15th

cue up that video clip of Dennis Green yelling "we are who we they they are"

Dube and Mangiapane are both great in OT (IMO). I also thought Toffoli was having an unreal game yesterday, so I actually don't take issue with the OT deployment.

My only critique is that I think to disrupt the building momentum shift after the 3-2 goal, and given how mentally fragile our team is, Sutter should have called a timeout to give some time / pause / try to push out the momentum build with the crowd a bit. Crowd gives energy, also gives you a chance to chat to the boys and potentially strategize a bit too.

What's weird to me (and I can't tell if I'm happy or disappointed) is that, so far, after this absolutely total eff-up of a season....we are STILL in a playoff position.

My concern: we buy at the TDL. Stupidly. A hockey trade is OK.

The house needs cleaning. Does this team have the balls to do it? I think not. The "just get in" mentality will win. And if we don't make it "Well, we were...close."

I was SO pissed after the collapse - even though I'd told my wife it was gonna happen. These managers are pros, paid millions to make hard decisions. Really?

Remember the Ottawa opportunity in the second period (I think) when Zadorov fumbled the puck behind our net and Tkachuk almost scored an empty netter, did any of you notice who prevented that goal?

It was Pelletier, an incredible defensive play by him, Kelly said it was Dube but he was wrong.

I keep looking at Twitter and refreshing the pages here to see if there is any organizational reaction to last night. Anything at all.

But, just “part of the process” I guess, nothing to see here.

It was fine. as soon as we got control Hanifin jumped in for Tanev.

We are fine. This season has been a complete disaster and we are still in a playoff spot! Insane.

With Giroux out to take the faceoff for Ottawa they were planning for the faceoff loss.

To me this is the worst loss of the year, the most devastating for sure. Im not sure how they are going to respond to this one. The only hope they have is to ride Vladar and have Marsktrum as the backup. Daryl has given him every opportunity to get out of this year long funk hes in but its painfully obvious its not going to happen so stop tossing him in there hes costing us the season at this point and everyone knows it.

How would you prefer the organization's Twitter react to the loss? Any particular message you'd wish they had tweeted, either immediately after the loss or this morning that would be more acceptable for you?
