The goal scoring is a huge issue though. 1.6 Goals per game in his last 13 starts is pretty ridiculous.
Goalie doesn't seem to trust the team and team doesn't seem to trust the goalie.

Ya, but I think it’s because he hasn’t won consistently this year. If he was winning with more regularity, there’d only be a couple trolly clowns calling him out. You’ll never get away from that unfortunately.
But one of the reasons he isn’t winning is because he’s not playing good enough. That’s on him.

No, there would be more than that. Even this time last year when there was little to complain about there were posters who were criticizing how he was making saves or how uncomfortable they thought he looked on a shot that missed the net.
To some on here he's damned if he does and damned if he doesn't.

Not much to complain about last year other than round 2. So that’s silly.

As noted in the article, I think a lot of this has to do with giving up an early goal. It’s hard to come back, especially when you’re down early. The opposition can play safer hockey when they have a lead - and when Marky is in net, the opposition seems to have an early lead often.

It certainly happened
The usually suspects were calling me out for saying he would be a Vezina finalist...even when it was obvious to people outside of Calgary

Yeah, but it can be complicated. Harder to score goals when the other team puts you behind early and can afford more patience.

Really don’t get how the goalie coaching staff has survived for so long. Numerous head coaches in and out the door yet somehow Siglet was able to elevate himself into a director position. Not saying him and his staff are to blame entirely but a change in philosophy and direction is needed. Don’t want to subject Wolfe to this group as clearly whatever they’ve done hasn’t worked. Sure, Marky was a Vezna candidate last year but I don’t buy the argument that this staff was the reason why. Team was on an elite path last year. Change could be what these guys need and it’s baffling that this group has been stable given the limited success.

Even Markstrom admitted that back in December. I am not sure why McKenna uses the first 3 minutes of what constitutes an early goal either.

They did the same for Vladar against Detroit but he saved the two on one that was two shots in. I suspect that Markstrom is gripping the stick extra hard on those early high danger chances because he knows they’ve been going in. It happened against NYR, but then he settled in OK.

It goes back a post I made a few days ago where I said the organization needs a set of fresh eyes. Much the same as when the brought in Burke and he started purging people in the organization. I think it's the right time to part ways with Treliving to bring in fresh perspectives that can evaluate everyone in the organization. There seems to be a bit of an old boys club going as since Treliving has got here the only people that have been fired are the head coaches and their hand picked assistants. He brought in his Coyotes buddy Maloney and then there's the Flames alumni like Conny and Gelinas that are here but we don't really know if they are actually really good at what they do. It's also a long time for Sigalet given the poor results of Flames goaltenders under his management.

I think we might officially be at the point where it's too late to panic about Markstrom.

Markstrom is the team's biggest issue this year and it's not even close anymore IMO.
When the game is within 1 goal:
Vladar: .913 Save Percentage, 3.04 GSAA
Markstrom: .879 save percentage, -17.04 GSAA
It's a 34 point difference!
That is why Vladar is 11-5-4 and Markstrom is 14-13-6. This team has played a league leading 32 one goal games...so how important are those stats. Markstrom has inflated his numbers when the game is out of reach already, and if anything his .892 save percentage is actually generous.

Of all the threads that get bumped randomly, this one seems to be the only one that gets bumped for valid reasons

Only hope for this team is for Sutter to panic about Markstrom and abandon trying to salvage him. For the players, how much more difficult is it to play in front of a goalie you can't have confidence in? Starting him is just unnecessarily setting the team back from the first faceoff.

I don’t know if “I have to have somewhere to post the same thing I’ve posted after every Markstrom loss since November” is valid, but it’s certainly a reason.

It's better than bumping the Tank For Bedard thread after 1 loss
