				 10 goal scorers

OK, trying to be more optimistic for the Flames post all star break here..
Looking at our stats, we have the opportunity to have a crap load of 10 goal scorers this year.. Currently:

 Kadri 19
 Toffoli 18
 Lindhome 15
 Dube 12
 Huberdeau 10
 Mangiapane 10
 Coleman 10
 Backlund 9
 Lewis 8
 Zadorov 8
 Andersson 7
 Ruzicka 6
 Ritchie 6

All of these 13 guys have a great chance to hit 10 this year..
 I would say 10 are a lock.
So one positive is spreading the offense around a lot this year.
When is the last time we had thirteen 10 goal scorers you may ask?

Well I've gone back 15 years and so far none.

Time for a quantity for quality trade then. Like the Phaneuf deal, but backwards.

There was a TV broadcast earlier this year where they mentioned Flames had more 6 goal scorers than any team in the league.
The proverbial hammer looking for a nail.

I wonder how many 20 goal scorers we will have at the end of the year Over/Under 4.5 seems like reasonable number. I will take the over, being optimistic of a strong finish to the year.

Huberdeau 10 and Mangiapane 10 have to be the biggest disappointments on this list.

I recall when Sutter smirked "we have more 20 goal scorers that any team in the league" when he traded for Kotalik.
He didn't seem to understand the concept that a 20 goal scorer for another team getting top 6 minutes and PP time would not be a 20 goal scorer when relagated to the third line with zero PP time.

I also remember how that worked out.

Are we talking about 10 players who score goals or 10-goal scorers? (Sorry not sorry. )

It's not 2005 anymore butterfly. 1990 is over 30 years ago.

Darryl just hates to admit when he's failed. I remember the end of year presser in 2010 I believe when the Flames missed the playoffs and he smirked "we had more points than Montreal who made the playoffs in the east".

The "Really?" was for the bolded part of the quote. Hence, the subsequent paragraph break.

Even with Kylington not playing and Weegar only having 1 goal I think the defence has still contributed 27 goals in 50 games. Even Tanev who had 6 last year only has 1 so far.
In spite of the struggles the team is still scoring close to an average number of goals. Hopefully Pelletier can stick on this line with Kadri and Huberdeau and add a few and some others can find their games a bit more.

one of my favorite random flames seasons was 84-85. not the best Flames team by any stretch, and of course a different era and yada yada but they had a strange amount of depth no matter how you looked at it

they had 15 guys score 10 +, also Macoun with 9, Riser had 7 in 15 games, Cavallini 6 in 27, Otto - we didn't even know who he was then- had 4 in 17

they had lots of injuries , but basically any guy that played was on a 16-20 goal pace, they 'only' had 8 20 goal scorers but in addition to the guys I list above Lanny had 19 in 43, Tambellini (!) 19 in 47 , Bozek 13 in 54, Eaves 14 in 46, MacInnis 14 in 67

their 363 goals was 2nd in the NHL (behind the Oilers) although their leaders Loob and Nilsson were barely top 30 (although within a year Cliff had cashed in much of that depth for 2 other guys in the NHL top 30 scorers Tonelli and Mullen)

I don't really see this as a good thing. If the top end was heavy (25+ goal guys) and you still have 10+ 10 goals scorers, that's a different thing but this indicates we have too much meh and not enough elite.
