Tonight’s game is a big one. If they lose things won’t be looking very good. A team like Seattle almost will be crossed off the list of teams we can catch.
Nashville is also creeping back into it cause the odds of making it to go down.
Win tonight I say it’s still around 50 50
Lose tonight and it’s more like 40 60

I think you're going to need a vomit bag if you move chances 10% game in and game out.
They need to go 6-3-1 in every set of 10 games.

Held off on voting until now and gotta say No.
Have been waiting for the team to round into form and expected it would happen, but I don't see it anymore.
Continued struggles against the worst teams in the league shows me what this team currently is.

I previously stated 45 percent which is close to 50 50.
Around 40 60 if they lose.
70 to 80 percent just seems way off to me watching this team play. If they had 1 line who looked dominant or goaltending that looked dominant I could see it being 70 percent. Just not seeing it
6 3 1 is achievable once but a big ask 3 times in a row when you have 2 game losing streaks

Even if they get in, I'm not excited about the prospects of watching them in the playoffs. They're a really hard team to care much about this year.

They are definitely frustrating to watch. Not sure about the care about part.
If I didn’t care I wouldn’t watch.

For me I decided to skip a game or 2 strictly based on was Pelletier in the lineup or not. I also love watching Deuhr play right now. I think both could be the spark that is needed if Sutter finally plays both.
Of course, Pelletier got a bump up the lineup, and they lost 5 to 1.
Hopefully Pelletier gets a look with Huberdeau for a few games. I'd also love to see Kadri and Lindholm flipped. Kadri is great but he does not use his linemates as well as Lindholm.
If this team were to make it, no question Huberdeau needs to be the Huberdeau we thought we had this summer. Lindholm needs to be his center and they need to try a player with speed on the other wing. I wanted Dube with these 2 at the start of the year and we have yet to see that combination with the million different looks Sutter has given us. I think Pelletier could be even a better fit than Dube.

I voted yes
But
Last nights loss puts a huge damper on things.
And
Even if they make it I’m really starting to think it will be over quickly. There’s something about this group that starting to smell foul.
I’m even beginning to wonder if the GM situation is effecting things all the way through

Voted no, and take no joy in saying they seem to be exceeding my expectations (i.e., getting worse).

I voted yes, but it definitely wasn't a strong yes. My main hope at the time was the schedule theory being presented where the schedule would get easier. Unfortunately, we have not been able to take advantage of that it seems.

I voted no.
I hate that their performance is making me feel better about voting no.

The problem with strength of schedule is unless the teams you are racing with rank last in strength of schedule, they do have weak games too.
Take Minnesota, they rank mid pack in strength of schedule. Going into last night the Flames had 11 games against the worst 8 teams. Minnesota has 8. So, we are plus 3 there. But then we lost last night. So now it's 10 to 8 and all teams in the playoffs have about a 2-to-3-point edge on the Flames.
People also keep saying. .625-win percent you're in but after last night's loss the Flames have a .625-point percent against the worst 8 teams for the year.

The Flames seemed to be trending the right direction from early December, but so far they're .500 for wins in the second half of the season, and if they win tonight they'll be at .550 in the second half, which is basically just on their average pace for the year.
The last 9 games they only had 2 games against teams in playoff positions at the time, and they won 4 of 9 games.
Edit: missed the OT loss point against STL. They're actually 0.563 for points now in the second half, .500 for wins), and will be .611 for points if they win tonight.

But they also have been very healthy since October. Tanev is out now and we just don’t win when Tanev is out.

Tanev being out is a brutal loss. He seems to have been the backbone of the team at times. Hopefully he recovers quickly.

I voted 'No' because of my notorious 'Pie in the Sky' Optimism.
But watching last night's game? Regardless of opponent, if this team somehow miraculously makes the playoffs? It'll be a waste of 8 days.

In their last 10 the Flames are now 3-0 against the teams in playoffs positions, including a couple of division leaders. They are also 2-3-2 against teams in non-playoff positions, including the league's basement dwellers.

I voted yes as long as Vladar gets bulk of the remaining starts. No, if Markstrom plays 50% of the remaining games. Team looks much better and competitive with Vladar, IMO, and usually wins.
