Uh well he is a human being -so yes, in fact he does have a right to privacy. And if you're going to say something to the effect of "But he plays a game for millions of dollars" - Professional athletes deserve that money because they are literally in the top 0.1% in their highly competitive field, that typically gets people paid.

There was a write up by a reporter a couple of weeks ago, can't remember who it was and I am too lazy to look it up, but they said that Kylington was unlikely to return this season. It was written in passing and I think it was an out of market publication, so I just kind of assumed that they were assuming and didn't have any actual inside knowledge, but you never know what people know I guess.
I am hoping it was just someone inferring it based on how long it has been and with little details being released, because I am still holding out hope.

I'd wager most of the journalists close to the team know what is going on. Any reporter who broke this "scoop" would look really poor on the human decency front.

If he is out for the season, are there any mechanisms for the team to recoup the cap space for this year?

Miss watching him play
When he comes back, and if we are fully healthy, do we put Weegar on the third pair? I would love to see OK back with Tanev or even reunite Hanifin/Tanev dominant pairing. This season or next
Weegar and Zadorov looked good together. I don’t think a Kylington/Zadorov third pair compliments each other well, and I would have no issue spending that much $$ on a third pair

It’s sort of a delicate situation but I wonder if Brad is curious about this, or tolling the contract like what happened with Nabokov, but cares about the individual above all that.
I think it’s equitable for us to get the cap space if the player isn’t here for an entire season. It’s not like we’re pulling a Kucherov, we are genuinely fighting for our lives without him

I’m just curious why this type of situation isn’t treated similarly to the injured reserve process, from a cap perspective.

We either need clarity on what is going on or cap relief, this is wild.

He's a public figure. I don't view this any differently than journalists covering Kim and Kanye or Donald Trump.

Leave Kylington alone. He'll be back when he's back.
Or he won't be.

Just because he's famous doesn't give the public the right to know details of his personal life, including his health or the health of his family. Two of your other examples fall under gossip/tabloids/TMZ. People are interested but we don't have the right to know.
Trump's health was different because when he was president (or if he runs again), his health impacts the nation. Reporting about it is in the public interest. A hockey player? Nope.

Of course we don't have the right to know. Just like he doesn't have the right to privacy.
Neither Kylington nor the fans have any obligation to each other that's the point

He doesn't have a right to privacy because he's a hockey player? That is horse#### and you know it.
His on-ice performance is fair game for fair or unfair criticism, dissection or praise.
His off-ice personal life is his personal life. He has a right to his privacy same as you. Get a grip man holy

Everyone has the right to privacy. That's why everyone's health data is, you know, private. Your job doesn't change this right.

You didn't say it. But you have a right to privacy and so does he.
I can't just walk into a hospital and request BoLevi's medical records, now can I?

You are assuming this poster is old enough to have a medical record beyond being born.

If I knew what was going on with Kylington I would have no obligation to not say so publicly.
His privacy is not my responsibility.

Hockey "news" is full of endless personal rumors, salacious stories, drug addictions, domestic abuse, etc
And we all lap it up.
