I am surprised so many people are in an uproar about this. Sutter was trying to be funny and maybe it didn't land, but I don't think he was being disrespectful. The fact he gave him a little PP time I think shows that he thinks there is potential there. The comment about him only being 21 and has lots of room to improve could easily be seen as him getting in front of any criticism someone may have had.

I think an honest observation of Pelletier tonight is that he was a non-factor, which is perfectly fine for 21 rookie playing his first game and only 6.5 minutes. All he had to do is not stand out in a bad way, and he did that. He really doesn't deserve a lot of praise for his play today, but we can probably expect that as he settles in more, he will become more of a factor. I know from a media perspective, a rookie playing his first game is big news. From Sutter's perspective, he is just player number.

Small sample size warning, but I thought Pelletier looked a lot more ready than Phillips. Phillips seemed to struggle with quick decision making and would abandon the puck when he was being rushed. Pelletier seems to think the game at a better pace and didn't seem nervous or rushed to make a decision.

Still digesting how I feel about this one, but looking at that clip, I think this is waaaay more of a jab at Valji. He's prepared for it, has his props and script ready to go.

Shame that it was pretty much at the expense at a kid playing his first game.

Pelletier made his debut and he likely stays in the lineup on Monday. Sutter was the same towards Dube the first year when Sutter came in, and now Dube has a relatively long leash on the top line.

As for the game, hopefully that Dube game gets that Lindholm line on a real heater. He was great today, and what a snipe on that goal. The Backlund line has been consistently good, need the other top 2 lines to get rolling. I'm not going to rag on Lucic after a big win but safe to say I think that line could use a better offensive weapon on the wing. Maybe Pelletier will get another crack next game for a shift or two?

Unfortunately Darryl’s ego is becoming the bigger story in Calgary. At the end of the day he can troll the media all he wants but at what expense? I’m sure those comments didn’t sit well in the room with the team. Players are human beings and respond accordingly to these types of comments. How can you not? Head coach needs to be better and the record speaks for itself. I’ve said this before that I’m a big Darryl fan but these personalities like him and Tortorella are starting to run their course. It’s exhausting listening to the constant negative team talk being used as a motivational tool.

While I agree that playing the game at certain levels can add helpful perspective it was pretty weak of you to throw that out at Scorp and then completely ignore him when he asked where you played.

If you’re going to do that at least be transparent with where you played. And I can assure you that unless you were drafted into the NHL nobody here is going to care where you played.

For me personally I'm a Calgary Flames fan, not just a Darryl Sutter fan.

And i think Sutter is a great coach.

But right now I see a guy who is putting himself before the organization.

No idea if thats true but thats how i feel right now. To me everything he says in the media right now reads as "I've done everything I can do, but the roster, prospects, and therefore GM aren't good enough".

Maybe I'm wrong but thats what all of this feels like to me with Sutter right now.
