And if you use tire shine, it WILL spin off and show up as black streaks/spots if you don't wipe it off and let it set sufficiently. I've had my car professionally detailed, and even then all it took was the drive home to have spots down the side from it.

For your shift light, I'm sure these guys will make one to fit your CLS: https://www.realcarbontastic.com/pro...steering-wheel
For silver, it just looks too old man for me and I realize that's coming from a guy with a beige Mercedes.

Yeah, I've watched some install tutorials on that steering wheel. I just don't feel like putting $2k into a steering wheel for this car right now. Plus it looks a bit cheesy. Been eyeing something sportier like an M240i, but the Merc is still 100% trouble free even with 105,000 kms, so I'm not going to do anything until it starts letting me down or I get bored of it.

Mine was pretty trouble-free too (though not as good as my Brits), but you're getting to that stage where Mercedes will slowly start finding things wrong.

If you ever get told by Mercedes that your camshaft position magnets are weeping and need to be replaced, oh and it'll cost you $600; it's three bolts per sensor (there's two intake, two exhaust and it's usually the intake side), an hour of swearing total, and $44.50 per sensor from RockAuto. Do it yourself, it's easy.

As for the wheel, they can make one that isn't slathered in carbon fiber and Alcantara. Just get a leather wrapped one.

Yeah my SportWagen is almost between silver and beige. It’s so old man I hate it, the white one looked much better. But I went with the better car (less wear and kms).

I have the M235i with the same mileage as your CLS, you can't go wrong with a 2 series. Considering reupping to an M2 Comp, but I've already spent almost 9 years with this car.

We really wanted a white SportWagen when we bought ours as well, as I think white looks great on vehicles. However the best vehicle (same as you; less wear and kms) was a dark blue metallic. It looks amazing clean, but it's pretty much not 100% clean the moment it leaves the car wash in the winter.

Has anyone tried Turo or another type of rental for an EV? Was looking at a US Road trip this summer that will be like 7000km. Was looking at the idea of renting a Model Y as the fuel savings and being able to bring camping gear might offset a lot of the rental cost.

Turns out it is more than just renders. At about 9:30 you can see the interior roof. I don't know how much of this will make production, but I sure hope no one ever has a rock hit their windshield. That thing will probably cost 5k to replace, given it transitions into the roof with electrochromatic tinting.

Almost none of that will make it into production. These are concepts.

There's a reason why the new WRX concept looks like this

but we got this

Ya, it was just funny because the designer guy was saying how important it was to have that frame removed. I think he's going to lose that argument with the accountants.

The 2024 refresh on the GT -R looks nice. But it gets some really nice upgrades throughout. New model badging called T-Spec. Finally gets carbon ceramic brakes. Front axle LSD for all upgraded models above basic. I think it looks really sharp. Kind of a spec ii upgrade back in the day on the r34.

Would have been awesome if Nissan got that update done when the GTR was only 10 years old... 5 years ago.

Sidetrack after seeing those pics, but it's such a shame the Subaru is so damn ugly. Would have bought an Impreza this summer otherwise

I looked at the WRX when I was vehicle shopping earlier this year since an AWD sedan was my primary criteria, but I have no idea what Subaru is doing lately. The exterior is boring, the interior is boring (with a giant ugly ipad right in the middle), and it was more expensive with less features than the Mazda 3 I ended up with. There's just nothing compelling about it

The rotary is back! Single rotary used as a generator. I know this has been rumoured for awhile, but it sure seems like a good idea. Will have to see how it works in practice, but it sounds perfect for city commuters.

But don't you want your fully loaded WRX rally car equipped with an awesome... *checks notes* ...CVT transmission?

  • Currently want a plug in hybrid
  • Love my Mazda CX 5
  • Rotary engines strongly appeal to the nerd in me.

Kinda want to reach out to get myself on a waiting list for one of these. The Canadian pricing quoted seemed not terrible.

I looked at it as well. It went to ####. The new AWD Corolla is far sexier than the Subarus. At around $34K starting, it's not bad at all. It's just the wait that sucks.

Had I not ended up finding a decent deal, I was close to probably waiting to buy or lease the new AWD Corolla. Anything under $30K is pretty stupid. Over priced by $5-15K it seems.

Be a bit patient, been watching the market lately and things are declining very quickly. There’s still a lot of delusional folks trying to get top dollar but those ones aren’t moving. Might take another 3-6 months for things to normalize.

Cheers

I have patience, but the minus of driving vehicles until they die is when they do, or when they are on their death bed, it makes new purchases imperative.

I'll continue to kick tires and hold out as long as possible.
