They did take it to them hit two posts. The period started a bit sloppy but I think the teams mental state is different with Markstrom. Once he gives up soft which he's done plenty of times with us having the lead the team looks cautious and it just snowballs into mistakes passive play and Markstrom doing his thing getting us to overtime.

lol you think the Flames have been lucky this season! They are the better team in almost every OTL
Blues goals in regulation
Off a Flame
Bad Rebound
Shot from way out, off a flames player, screened their own goalie, can't make a save (take your pick)

Do you blame them for being passive?
They just saw two half chances end up in the back of the net in the first three minutes of the period.
They feel like they cant take a risk because they know it will end up in their own net if they make a mistake, similar to how the Oilers series shifted last year.

This is why I never bother with the PGT after a loss. Too negative, too toxic, too hyperbolic, and it’s embarrassing.
“I don’t even bother watching anymore”
“Tre and the scouting staff need to be fired”
“Darryl is a terrible coach”
“This franchise is just satisfied with mediocrity”
We have points in 15 of our last 19, and we’re only FOUR points away from last year’s pace. True, we’re not good in OT this season, but even if we were mediocre, that would make up the difference.
BTW, your Calgary Flames have the 5th best winning percentage all-time, of any franchise.

They were shell shocked and nervous about allowing any more chances against their own net, knowing it will go in.
The Flames open up at all & Markstrom let's in more, they nervously got to OT.
I think this is happening a lot and why they get to OT so much. The team is playing for the loser point, rather than lose both points buy opening the game up at all.
There's no confidence in their #1 goalie and they don't know how to play infront of him, so they're playing on eggshells.

If anything their OT record is bad luck. They arent playing any more OT games than most teams (on the high end but average is 9-10 OT games)
They do have a terrible record though, which if anything is a bit of bad luck.

It's not a bad team, it's a good team that is severely underperforming/achieving.

Without a doubt, the blame for this loss rests on the shoulders of Jacob Markstrom and Darryl Sutter. Dude pulls Markstrom in the previous game because of performance reasons, Dan Vladar looks excellent in relief, then instead of playing the excellent goaltender, Sutter goes back to the goaltender he pulled because of performance reasons and said goaltender proceeds to give the game away after a solid 40 minutes on the road.
and Sutter again with the poor OT choices. The exact same 3 players who butchered the previous overtime goal in Chicago start the OT period. Was it a surprise that those very same 3 players blew it in overtime again 30 seconds in? No, no surprise there.

Not coming at you personally as I quoted you a few times today. But there is absolutely nothing about this team with Sutter at the helm and Markstrom in net tells me theyd make it past 5 games in the first round. If they can even get into the playoffs.

Ya think?
"Sole possession of a playoff spot". Yep....but not SOLID possession.
Within FOUR POINTS of the Flames are 4 other teams. Of course they won't win any games, right?

Losing our way into the playoffs 1 loser point at a time

I think it's time to give up the Phillips dream. He won't be up. It's best to leave the Phillips talk to the offseason.

I've passed that one.
