Name a more legendary duo than losing winnable games and the Calgary Flames.

I’ve largely tuned out of the season. Last game I remember watching before tonight was the one where Phillips got 7 minutes of ice time.
Nice to see that Lucic is still being fed top 6 minutes, they’re still hell bent on playing plugs over their own high potential first rounder, and they’re still dedicated to playing Markstrom as the #1 at all costs. Around game 15 I wondered how many times we have to learn the same lesson, looks like it might be many more times yet.

Why do 4th lines always have to be grinders and “energy” players? Let’s play young prospects with offensive skill.

They probably do practice 3-on-3 against one another.
Problem is they are terrible players for it. So they don't perform well against other teams when it's game situation.
In all seriousness though. The Flames on 3-on-3 seem to lack patience. They try to force something that isn't there rather than reset or settle the play, and then get burned for it.

I don’t see how putting AHL’ers into this lineup makes a difference.
We have a goaltending problem. A bit of a structure problem on D. And our highest paid star seems to have no confidence.

They played a great game aside from 5 min in the third. Coleman was great.
Huberdeau needs to stop making blind passes. And I thought Gaudreau coughed the puck up a lot. It’s like the puck will explode if he doesn’t get rid of it within 2 seconds.
Markstrom.....OMG Wouldn’t of even made it to OT if it wasn’t for the offside call. Fully expect to see him back in on Thursday.
Sutter must of told them during the 2nd intermission that we had enough goals. Stop doing what they were doing the whole game and play defence only.

I get that you don't want to push too hard, take unnecessary risks and give up the lead, but there was no energy or pace to their play at all.

The first part leads to the second part. Would you take a chance with the Swedish Sieve behind you?

Its almost like Sutter is making decisions in spite.
That 2nd blues goal was so bad, I would have rather seen Markstrom give up a clapper from centre. A muffin into the crest and he can't control it, ridiculous.

Next Flames move. Trade Vladar and a first for an aging top line winger and reconfirm the commitment to Markstrom. Then Vladar turns into a Kiprusoff

Almost? You just met the man?
He should have pulled Markstrom in the BOA and not let the Oilers waltz through.
But he has his horse and he rides it no matter the weather dang it *spits*

Our 4th line had better stats (corsi, scoring chances, high danger chances) than our top line.
Maybe we need offensive skill in the top lines more than the 4th.

Sutter clearly is making some decisions from spite. Lucic isn't a top line player and playing him there (or as another example a few games back, giving him offensive zone starts) is nothing but a message to the rest of the guys. "Gotta play Looch cuz you aren't gettin it done."
