Marcinew is the Rush's leading scorer. Calgary kid (well, 29 years old).

I also notice on the AHL Transactions page that D Rhett Rhinehart and Simon Lavinge have both been released from their Standard Player (AHL) Contracts.
Lavinge has been called up from RC before, but never utilized. Played 22 games with the Rush.
Rhinehart has been injured, and has only played in 7 games for the Rush.
Neither are a big deal, but it's odd to release organizational depth at the moment.

I'd assume moves like that were initiated by the players.
The timing of it makes me wonder if it's related to the CHL Scholarship. Both players played last season in the CHL and both turned 21 in 2022. It's hard to find details about the CHL Scholarship, but I know there are timing restrictions on when a player must use it.

Hadn't considered that.
Beats riding a bus all over the mid-west in the middle of winter for peanuts.

Seems like today’s game against the grease birds is going to be packed. Lower bowl tix are all sold out. Hopefully it’s all calgary fans but I’m guessing it will be mostly degenerates from up north

With the Pelletier and Duehr call-ups…There have been some interesting line combos so far.

2-1 after 2. Still pretty flat from the Wranglers but they caught the Condors on a bad change and Phillips scored.

Played a better third and steered it home. Not sure how Wolf wasn’t one of the stars, he made some great saves.
Pettersen is going to be the next Phillips.

I thought for sure Wolf would be 1st star. But I guess you can’t give it to him every game.

opened up the all important 22 point lead on Bakersfield. The Condors leading scorer is a 29 year old dude, next is the mighty Bourgault who I think would be tied for 12th or 13th in Wranglers scoring

Fun game, although certainly not the Wranglers' best. My first at the Dome in a while.
Found out from Mitch after the fact that Poirier is currently a scratch. Will have more on it soon.

Scoring Winger
|
Went to game. First time seeing most prospects live. Hopefully was an off game.
As none of the forward or D or stood out. None at this point are even close to pushing out current flames F or D in top 9 or 6 respectively. Phillips scored but really drove zero offense.
Most of wolf shots werent challenging. You can tell his mobility is quick but wow is he tiny looking in net.

Yeah it was absolutely an off game. Good that they won but one of their two or three weakest efforts of the year all around. I thought Zary had some decent sequences but otherwise they didn't get into much of a rhythm.
I do think part of the reason Wolf didn't look to be too challenged though is that he didn't allow any second or third chances. That's part of being a great goaltender ... he made everything look so easy. He still had a couple really acrobatic cross-crease stops that got the crowd into it.

Apparently, players have 18 months from their last WHL season (regardless of whether they're an overager) to use decide whether to use the CHL scholarship.

Wolf well on his way to another goalie title, after a bit of a rough start he's got unreal numbers in his last 20 games or so, I wonder how many calls Treliving is getting on this guy.

‘You don’t perform, you don’t play’: Wranglers’ Jeremie Poirier scratched for second consecutive game
https://flamesnation.ca/news/you-don...nsecutive-game
Quote:
In conversation with the media on Sunday, Love made it clear he views Poirier as an integral piece for this Wranglers team but also stressed the need to keep his players in check when they begin to tail off.
“Yeah, he’s fine, he’s day-to-day right now,” Love said. “Last couple nights, we’ve had other guys that have played better hockey than him. We’ll see what our lineup is on Tuesday. You know, we talked about ‘next man up’ mentality, we’ve had guys step up in those roles.
“With our team here, it’s about accountability. You don’t perform, you don’t play, and that’s plain and simple,” Love continued. “Our guys know that internally. It makes us a competitive hockey team and that was a situation that’s happened there.
“Jeremie is a big part of our hockey team, he’s a good young player. He’s still learning what it takes to be a good young pro.”
