A buddy of mine went around Halifax last night showing downtown Halifax before and after the game.

Makes me wish I was there. Halifax is a great town.

My one hope for this tournament is that going forward they start awarding it back to places like Halifax, Saskatoon, etc.. and stop with these big cities that couldn't care less. What a different atmosphere this arena had and the pure joy compared to Toronto or Vancouver.

If they bring it back to Saskatoon I hope they don't price everyone out of the market like back in 2010. They had a lot of trouble selling ticket packages which were not only absurdly expensive but you initially had to buy every game to see Canada (though they did break up the packages after poor sales).

Halifax was clearly buzzing. It was not only the talk of the town but talk of the Maritimes.

Halifax is a big junior hockey town. I'm sad that the secondary city was Moncton this time and not Sydney like in 2003. However, with the new Avenir Centre in Moncton and the complete s***show that is our local junior hockey team it only makes sense that it was split between Halifax and Moncton.

In the future it'd be awesome if they used various combinations of Halifax, Moncton, Sydney, Saint John, and Charlottetown.

Non North Americans can be over the age of 20 but he is Canadian born.
That was my understanding too, he will be too old at the date the next draft is held.

Is Thomas Milic eligible for the 2023 NHL Draft?
Milic will turn 20 years old in April of 2023. Therefore, he is not eligible for the 2023 draft, as all North American players must be under 20 years old by December of the draft year in order to be selected at the draft.

However, he is considered an undrafted free agent, so any NHL team can sign him to a contract at any point.

I wonder if any team takes a flyer on Thomas Milic after this. He went undrafted twice and is considered a free agent. He actually had a really good season last year and some were surprised that he still went undrafted.

As they say, goalies are voodoo.

I don't think the Flames have room in the system for another goalie without making moves, but I would not be surprised to see him get picked up by someone.

Yeah. This.

Most of these guys are Junior hockey players, award it places that love their Junior hockey.

Hey, I'm not going to say that Calgary doesnt love the Hitmen or that Edmonton doesnt love the Oil Kings or whatever, but not to the same extent as places where the Junior team is the biggest game in town.

The only restrictive problem with that is the size of the arenas, and I get that, like Lethbridge's biggest arena is 5,500 seats, Red Deer is 7,000, but going places where this is their bread and butter really gives you that atmosphere.

Oilers should be looking at him.

Oh man, it's a team run by people think that they're the smartest person in the room but believe 2 + 2 = potatoe.

Attendance is embarrassingly low, which is obviously the fans fault. Not the lack of marketing, community involvement, communication and honesty with fans, or $20/ticket but 4/$50 which is such a deep discount it essentialy eliminates walk up sales in a market where the consumer base is walkups. Season ticket holder advantages: you get the same seat and if you miss a game, you can give away tickets to a redemption night to someone else!

Mention any of these issues to the team, and you're the idiot.

Meanwhile I'm sitting here in Centre 200 with like 1,500 of my closest friends? 2,000 maybe. And if I wanted to buy my son a jersey, shirt or souvenir, I'd have to take my ticket and leave the arena to get to the team store. EDIT: Just checked the paid attendance (not necessarily what was in the rink... 1,529).

It might be Saturday afternoon but still should be 3,500-3,800 here. Rink seats 5,200ish.
