Stromgren and Ronni both felt very much like picks for physical attributes over on-ice prowess. Both likely top out as fourth-line forwards in the NHL and they have a long, long way to go to get there. Don't think Stromgren gets an ELC.

They still drafted him. And I would have added Erixon if he had played enough games.

All I did was compare draft picks that made the NHL.

Last 10 years (1 NHL game):

Honko, Heiskanen, Harley vs Gilmour, Kylington, Andersson, Fox, Valimaki (adv: Flames)

Last 15 years (min 200 games):

Heiskanen, Lindell, Nemeth, Klingberg, Grossman vs Andersson, Fox, Kulak, Brodie and Kylington (if not for current circumstances)

Maybe a small advantage to Dallas. Maybe.

But regardless which group you like better, the point is that any perception that Dallas has been better at drafting D-men is entirely fictitious.

This. I used to get so pumped for it growing up. Now I'm mildly into it. I pretty much only get excited for when Canada plays a top team.

The majority of this tournament for Canada just reminds me of watching WWF Superstars growing up, with like Yokozuna vs Brooklyn Brawler: it's not even a matter of IF they'll win, it's more about how bad they'll demolish them. Just not very exciting wondering if they'll win 11-0 or only 6-1.

Dallas is a funny team. In the early 2010s it felt like they couldn't draft at all. Their more recent picks have been pretty impressive although I'm not sold on the Lian Bischel selection. But getting both Stankoven and Johnston in the same haul felt like a pretty good coup.

Dallas has been good at finding high character defensive prospects for the middle six as well. Damiani has been a captain at every level and Delandrea looks like an NHLer.

Calgary equivalents might be Zary and Ruzicka. These guys are important.

This Canadian defense is not good. The Germans have gotten behind them a couple of times.

Canada is the oilers rn. Defense is not good and their PP is pretty good.

German dude gets a match penalty.

I... have no issue with that hit. It was a clean hit where the players' heads banged into each other. That's not a penalty in the NHL, anyway. I know there's zero tolerance for head contact in the IIHF but that seems incidental.

Bedard with 3/3 for 6 pts after 2 periods is a joke. What a talent

I find it so hard to get excited about these kinds of performances. Obviously Bedard is a talent, but it’s 10-1 against a team they should beat handily. We’ll see how they look against teams with a legitimate chance.

Have you watched him play? Because he looks dangerous every time he’s on the ice. Every shift. Both games. He’s been dominant out there.

But he really needs to stop banging his stick on the ice on every shift when a teammate has the puck. We get it dude, you want the puck all the time, simmer down.

Yeah I’m not saying he’s not going to be incredible. It’s just the 6 points in two periods kind of thing I’m talking about.
