AP keeps updating. I also heard 32 dead at least 28 injured.

Where do you see 32? I see either 22 or 29 from the news agencies.

Sidebar debate in a terrible thread . . . . . I think the ads that pop up are provided by a service that in turn might know something regarding your location or demographic, not something specifically planted by CNN.

Secondly, its actually up to the institution advertising to pull their ads if they think circumstances warrant.

It used to be that airlines would pull all advertising in newspapers on news of a plane crash somewhere in the world as one example.

Ad's are automatically placed based on keywords on a page. They don't have control over it.

It's the same for most google ads you see on forums and other pages.

Fox is reporting 32 fatalities, but I've seen no other reports that back this claim. BBC and CNN are saying 29 fatalities now.
Like other events of this type, the initial casualty reports are usually much higher then the final tally. I can recall hearing estimates of 20-30,000 dead after 9/11, so I'm hoping that the numbers aren't as bad as claimed.

Edit: the Wikipedia article now says that federal authorities have confirmed 32 fatalities, but I wouldn't trust that yet, as I've seen many edits and reverts over the past few minutes, and many claims have no citations.

There is nothing that could provoke something this. I don't see what is so your terrible in your own head that you can warrant others to die for it. Despicable. What was the reason for the Columbine kids? Rock music and being left out? Can't these people seek out or help or at least wrap their lips around a pistol and save the victims families all this grief?

Actually, the ads generally arent random at all. They are generated from keywords related to the story you are reading. The theory being that you are interested in reading about x, so they tailor the ads towards x. Pointing to CNN is probably oversimplifying, as it is the ad company that generates this ad. But I have seen numerous airline ads on articles about plane crashes, etc. It's just one of those times where the ad-bot generates a ridiculous response.

The ABC link I posted on page one is still at 29. We're well past the point where the number rising simply can't get any more mind numbing.

Absolutely. It just seemed random numbers were being thrown out by these networks.

			Headline News now saying 31.
Weird coverage on that channel. "President Bush will address the nation..." and "classes cancelled" are the headlines and they've also said that today is the 8th anniversary of the Columbine shootings, which is not true.

edit: press conference right now, "at least 20" said some guy in a uniform
