Lol with all the savior talk, Gaudreau comparisons.

My expectations are significantly lower. Conn Smythe Trophy.

If Zohorna gets called up, I wonder if Ilya Nikolaev makes the trip from Rapid City to the Wranglers along with Rory Kerins.

Dominoes, I tell ya.

I hope people are patient with this. Sutter took his time with Ruzicka and it paid off.

Trelving: We need to call up Phillips, need some offense

Sutter: Too small

Treliving: What about if you also can recall the 6'6 guy?

Sutter: Deal

I love making player predictions with outlandishly high expectations haha.

So far the jury is still out on 'Oliver Kylington will be our Erik Karlsson 2.0' but boy was he on track last year.

Come on Matty Phillips! I believe!

Assuming they keep the Lindholm and Backlund lines as is

They could do either:

Mangiapane - Kadri - Dube
Lewis - Zohorna - Phillips

or :

Mangiapane - Kadri - Phillips
Zohorna - Dube - Lewis

I've liked how Dube has been playing lately though, I think he's been better than Mangiapane actually. Would be weird to have him on 4th line duty.

I have no idea why Dube is getting demoted? Guy is playing his best hockey of his career and is starting to be a consistent threat. Now is not the time to tie him to the 4th line.

Think Id rather leave the top 3 lines untouched.

Because you're viewing it as a demotion.

The team needs 4 lines that can roll and produce and bumping Dube down to a spot where he can take that play to players like Lewis and maybe Ritchie or Zoho possibly makes this team a lot better and more balanced.

Huberdeau has been connecting on PP1 but still hasn't found that perfect chemistry and fit on 5v5. Pelletier-Zohorna-Phillips is the top scoring line in the AHL, let's try him with them.

I think this solves the 4 deadly lines without demoting Dube:

Rucizka-Lindholm-Toffoli
Mangiapane - Kadri - Dube
Huberdeau-Zohorna-Phillips
Coleman-Backlund-Lucic/Lewis/Ritchie

Yeah, we’ve seen repeatedly that Sutter is not afraid to deploy the “4th line” with significant minutes in all situations. We know he doesn’t buy into the concept of line hierarchies. If Dube is in the 4th line and it’s clicking it could easily play as much as any other line.

I mean glad they waived Rooney but that still doesn’t change the math. Was he even playing much? The question is (well even if he plays at all) is do they just put him with Lucic and Lewis and expect that to work? We know from line charts that Sutter wants to run four lines. This to me is a chance to make a real fourth line but yes that will involve juggling a player like a Dube down to there but then having a good fourth line they can play ten minutes a night.

I think that the timing of this is fantastic for Phillips. The team seems to be settling down, the veterans have begun to gel and we are starting to see the team play with much more consistency.
If he had come up 2 or 3 weeks ago when things were shaky, it could have been a mess.

Man, that should be the name of an Oilers beat reporter.

To do,

- Give Backlund the C
- Deal with Kylington
- Get rid of Sutter
- Deal Markstrom
- Bring up Wolf
- Tie in the Lucic contract to a Hanifin trade...tough one but have got to get these 4th line pluggers gone.
Your list is ####ed

It's baffling how we finally have a top 9 that is working cohesively, yet so many people want to throw in a guy whose played 1 NHL game into it, completely throwing off the chemistry that has been built up the 3 weeks.

First line? We are finally seeing chemistry between Huberdeau and Lindholm. Toffoli still has an elite shot.

Kadri line? No way you're messing with that. That was one of Dube's best games last night and Kadri and 88 are rolling.

Phillips on Backlunds line? Why disrupt one of the best third lines in hockey. Rucizka is one of our leading 5on5 scorers and Coleman finally looks like the player we wanted him to when he signed here.

Put Phillips on the fourth line. Make THAT line better. It needs an upgrade on speed and skill. Too many times that line has been hemmed in their own end defending.

I understand that for Phillips to work at the NHL level he can't be playing with fourth liners, but that fourth line does not need to solely need to a combination of Lucic/Lewis/Rooney/Ritchie.

Dube's had some chemistry with Looch in the past as well

I see absolutely no issue with putting out a fourth line of Zohorna–Lewis–Phillips. Reminds me a little of Mangiapane–Ryan–Hathaway
