Definitely but he is going to get one of these two games. It will come down to their history against the two teams, I would imagine.

Both goalies haven't done well against Washington. Markstrom has good stats against Carolina though while Vladar got lit up last year in his only game against them.
Markstrom: 1-7-1 3.23 .898
Vladar: 1-2 4.97 .821

No. You're right. The Vezina nominated goalie from last year who has been a NHL starter for the last six years and 177-156-45 overall has a losing record against every team.

Yes, his splits v. VGK and SJ are quite bad, but he is over 0.500 v. Edmonton. I don't think he has played great against the Oilers over the past few years, but he is still winning at least half of those games.

Ovechkin's milestone chase is going to be a huge distraction for his team for the remainder of his career. How can it not be?
He'll reach 2nd place this season of course, but after that, the constant narrative is going swirl around him closing the gap on Wayne. Fun for neutral observers, but I'd be a bit miffed if I was a Cap fan where it distracts from the team direction. Granted, Ovi has always said the right things in the media for each of his milestones (like we got the two points, all that matters etc).
Anyway, go Flames let's right this ship and chase the division.

Given Markstrom's record against the Capitals is by far his worst it would make sense to go with Vladar especially after a strong outing against the Penguins and start Markstrom tomorrow.
