I hope it's from too much clenching, the alternative is much worse.

There is no question that Markstrom's turnover gave them momentum. At that point, it was 2-0 and the Flames were really stifling the Panthers. As soon as they got that goal, they had a good push. They managed to get the tieing goal, and it started to feel like it was going to slip away. But Markstrom made a couple great saves that stemmed the tide and the Flames settled the game down. Then they got the go ahead goal and the game see-sawed back and forth the rest of the way.

Yeah the chart shows the game never really veered from close either way.

For those in the states, I’m trying to watch the playback of the game but I don’t see it on ESPN+. All the other games are there available. Anyone else having this problem??

Was Tkachuk asked about his “interesting” shootout strategy?
Part of me thinks he was trying to surprise Markstrom (who has likely seen all his moves in practice), and part of me thinks he had some intel (ie that Markstrom hates clappers in the shootout) and was trying to screw with him…
Either way, it was a huge save (especially after Huby just scored) and Markstrom knew it…

I just think Tkachuk wanted to be the talk of the NHL if he scored that shootout goal. Just like his between his legs attempts.

Still waiting for both Huberdeau and Weegar to be more impactful.
Both have been average defensively, and huge disappointments offensively.
Weegar made a good defensive play on a in-tight 2 on 1, but then left 2 Panthers alone in the slot on the 3-3 goal.
Huby was hard on the forecheck leading to the Coleman goal and as usual a couple other flashes but still not nearly enough for someone as talented as him.

What a fun day. My boy and I got to the rink an hour early and there was great atmosphere outside with a band playing, some big blow up Panthers gear that we got photos in/with, and a makeshift blow up rink for some street hockey.
We go inside and my son is just in awe of the spectacle. I've always thought it was a nice arena inside, but when he was enjoying just the sight of everything, I realized it's actually pretty great. We walked around to the back of the arena where there is a shop full of used gear and memorabilia and we had a ball looking at all of the different stuff. We settled on an official game puck that was used back in February of 2020, just before COVID. It was a rainbow puck for LGBTQ diversity night. For whatever reason, it was just something that felt right to get.
The game was great. We had great sightlines and the fans were cheering loudly. I ended up sitting next to a guy that moved here in 1998 from Regina. Said that his first ever NHL game was a Panthers game, and thus why he's a fan. We chatted a lot back and forth about the former/current Flames and Panthers, and where each team is going. It was great.
My son saw his first ever hockey fight and he was thrilled, but a little shocked by it. "Dad, that's not normal, right?" Oh, if only he had grown up in the 80's. Back and forth affair to be sure, but both teams worked hard and did their best to play defense and create something offensively. We even got to see some O.T. and shootout!
We had an absolutely great day. One thing occurred to me on the drive home: I enjoyed it more because I was looking at the game through my son's eyes. He's still learning the basics like offsides, icing, penalties, powerplays etc. He thought all the rules and ways to play the game were interesting and fun. It's amazing how great the game is when you stop worrying so much about each individual play or player, and especially stop worrying about stats, advanced stats, and the overall state of your team. I could sit here and bemoan plenty of mistakes or players who didn't have their best game, but you know what? I honestly forgot about those things the moment after they happened because of who I was with.
I guess what I'm saying is this: Whenever this game gets too serious for you and you're miserable about it, take a 7 year old to a game. It'll give your attitude a hard reset that's probably necessary.
Great win, but I would have been happy either way.
p.s. one last thing. I was dead wrong about not liking those baby blue jerseys for the Panthers. The red and yellow really pop off that blue. Those are beautiful jerseys in person.

There's a bunch of cantankerous @$$holes on this site that can stand to learn to watch the game like you did on this day.

I liked how after Razzy won it in the shootout the 4 other regular Dmen were the first to mob him.
Edit: And next was Mangi, his longtime friend from their OHL days!
