Guy has played less than 20 games for the Flames, and you're writing him off already?

There were also people who didn't want the Flames to sign Johnny to an extension after the terrible season he had in 2021. Johnny at the time probably would have been open to an $8M x 8 year at that point, but Flames didn't want to, so they took the risk, and lost the star a season later when he had a bounce back year.

People wringing their hands at the Huberdeau signing would have been after Tre if he left him unsigned, and Huberdeau leaves as a UFA.

Weegar has been perfectly fine. His cap hit is in-line with a defenceman of his ability at this point in time. I have no issue there.

On Huberdeau, he just doesn't seem to fit with any other players on the team. The Flames are insanely easy to defend against - muck up the middle and they're limited to perimeter shots. Huberdeau isn't having success because if he's trying to make his passes it has to go through so many bodies that he's not getting them through, and if he does, he's connecting with grinders like Lewis.

Sutter messing around with the lines after the Oilers loss was a critical over-reaction error and frankly, it's sent the entire team into disarray.

Lucic should not be playing where he is. Coleman should not be playing where he is. Offensively this team is a mishmash of meh, with as Pinder says correctly, 4th liners playing on every line (though I'd say that Ruzicka is a top-6 on a non-playoff team).

What I'm also concerned with his how sloppy they are in their own zone. The forwards aren't supporting the D, so the middle of the ice in the Flames zone is wide open all the time. Markstrom hasn't been good, but you can't let that happen. Lewis bobbling the puck leading to the Stamkos goal is a good example of that.

This team is in shambles, and it seems like Sutter's only response is to mix grinders and be grumpy. I'm with Rhett, this team is missing the playoffs. This road trip could kill them if they don't get some wins.

Totally agree with Rhett when he said that it doesn't matter what line Huberdeau is on. He hasn't been good enough period. But for sure he might as well be back up in the top 6. He has been underwhelming so far in the top 6, but he is pretty much useless in the bottom 6.

Huberdeau played with Lindholm while Lindholm was invisible.

Reunite them now that Lindholm isn't hot trash, and watch what happens.

Huberdeau has looked dangerous in his last four games

I think Huberdeau would work with Lindholm now, Lindholm is actually moving his feet and playing with speed now. I want to try this on the road trip, ideally 4th line gets <10 minutes of 5 on 5:

Hub - Lindholm - Toffoli
Ruzicka - Kadri - Mang
Dube - Backlund - Coleman
Lucic - Lewis - Ritchie

Just listening to the last podcast. I can agree with both opinions to some extent , but damn that debate went off the rails.

NO! By letter of the MOU, he would not have had to clear re-entry waivers.
MOU said "a team's list" not "that team's list". The CBA was changed, and by letter of the CBA he would have had to, but not by letter of the MOU which is what was in place at the time.

It was funny to see Rhett get so upset about it. You could just see him stewing before he unleashed. The guy can go from "the dude" laid back to hangry Joe Pesci in an instant.

I’d like to think that sometime in the next 6 games we see a sensible lineup like this

The battle between Pinder and Warrener starting at about the 42 minute mark is so fun. It's exactly the value you get off of the diluted 960 platform.

Rhett acts like such a putz, lol.

Yikes. A bit of a temper tantrum.

Overall, a good conversation with a few points of view.

If there was no lockout, then yes by the letter if the law he would need reentry waivers. However if there was no lockout, he would not be in Russia anyway.

The bottom line is that the lockout changed everything and the Flames made absolutely sure with the league offices. The league changed the rules temporarily because of the lockout. Flames were never in danger of losing both the picks and the player.

That's pretty good. I would just swap Hub and Ruzicka.Try and keep rolling Ruzicka with Lindholm and I would like to see what Hubey could do with Kadri for a longer period of time. Kadri can play with pace and that could help and he is the best player maker and that could work with Many.
