Albertans should be supported regardless of their choice to mask or not." Have some ####ing conviction. So thank a lot mother####ers, enjoy another mound of deaths pilled on your souls. You did it. Congrats.

What 'tools' should the government be using right now in your opinion?

Mask mandates? In what places?

Capacity restrictions?

Vaccine Passports? In addition to Covid shots, would this also include mandatory flu shots for anyone wanting to participate in society?

School Closures?

Closing of non-essential businesses?

Mask mandates are the simplest thing to do.

Not sure how wearing a mask intrudes on anyones life most places it's what 10-15 minutes.

Mask mandates are pretty easy/painless. Start with that for large venues, schools, transit. No need to shut anything down.

But to write off all tools due to ideology is something only an incompetent leader would do.

Nature published this article two weeks ago: A multinational Delphi consensus to end the COVID-19 public health threat

as part of this Delphi study, a diverse, multidisciplinary panel of 386 academic, health, non-governmental organization, government and other experts in COVID-19 response from 112 countries and territories to recommend specific actions to end this persistent global threat to public health.

On the specific question of mask mandates, that fell under the domain of "Prevention" within that domain, this was deemed the second-highest recommendation, in terms of consensus:

Prevention of SARS-CoV-2 transmission in the workplace, educational institutions and centres of commerce should remain a high priority, reflected in public health guidance and supported through multiple social measures and structural interventions (for example, remote work/schooling policies, ventilation, air filtration, facemask wearing).

Facemask wearing lowers the transmission of airborne diseases, such as Covid-19, this is widely known and widely supported by the evidence. The question now is whether or not this known fact carries enough weight to convince people that facemasking should remain as a policy.

I don’t think this is all politicians. There was a CBC poll (sound the leftist klaxon!) the other day and it was about 73-75% of people who didn’t want a mask mandate.

I just read 5 different articles about outbreaks in schools and it was not mentioned in any of them. Quite the opposite actually. Lots calling for the simplest and most effective measure to be brought back, masks.

It wasn't even that inconvenient to wear a mask, i thought it was a small price to pay to help reducing the spread.

But i'm biased though, i'm one of the people you were wearing masks to protect, im dead for sure if i get covid.

I’ve worn a mask a ton of times over the past few months. I’m not some rabid anti-masker or anything like that. I’m just showing that the evidence there doesn’t seem to show that people are clamouring for mask mandates. And really, if people think kids should be wearing masks or think people should be masked up in general, wear one.
