I hope Johnny gets an autobiography. I'm really looking forward to the chapter about his regret for choosing a poor team that doesn't push him to be better like he had last year in Calgary.
It doesn't help that Werenski is now out for the year. Gaudreau is the only one doing anything and he's not as complete as he has been. If he went to win he's not doing his part to add to winning and the team as a whole is just doing terrible.
Can you imagine Johnny with Bedard though? That's the ideal situation for Johnny. He needed to be the wingman to a stud center and a kid like Bedard could be what Johnny has been missing

Laine always seems to be injured too.
6 more years remaining after this, could go far with Bedard

I couldn’t be happier to see his team suck. And the panthers aren’t far behind with their lack of depth and division they are in.

I'll bet that Bedard at 18 years old would be the best player that Gaudreau has ever played with.

You would lose that bet.
18 year old Bedard will be a better all around player than Lindholm and Tkachuk last year? So guaranteed best line in the league with Laine?

Yeah tons of 18 year olds put up 100 points and aren't tire fires in their own end
Besides it's unlikely they get him anyway...let's not pretend this is Gaudreau's shrewd plan. He wanted no playoffs and no pressure. He got it.

Laine is bad, so no.
And yeah, even if Bedard is bad defensively, he will still likely be better at 18 than prime Tkachuk and Lindholm.

I will say Bedard may be the best trigger man Johnny's played with at day one. From all the scouting reports I have read that there are few even NHL comparisons to his release as his shot is generational.

Johnny getting booed on Long Island, which did not go unnoticed:
Quote:
Johnny Gaudreau was confused, if not amused. It was Saturday night in Long Island, and every time the Blue Jackets winger touched the puck, Islanders fans at UBS Arena booed him.
"I was talking to my coach after the third shift, and I was like, 'I don't get it,'" Gaudreau said. "I didn't talk to [the Islanders] once throughout the whole free agency."
Such is life for Gaudreau. It's been four months since the 29-year-old signed a seven-year, $68.2 million deal with Columbus -- turning down the Calgary Flames, his team for the previous nine years, and several other organizations, whether their interest was real or perceived.
And the hockey world is still obsessed with it.

Also, Gaudreau has played with a 21-year-old Nate MacKinnon, who was just breaking out.

IIRC he started on a line with McDavid and Eichel. It didn't work great so they switched to Mackinnon.

I am pretty sure Gaudreau played mostly with Eichel and MacKinnon, but that other guy sucks. Gaudreau was moved off his line because he was badly dragging Gaudreau down.

Are we talking about the World Cup? Wasn't it mostly RNH on the line with Gaudreau and MacKinnon?

If he’s on the same level as Crosby and McDavid (which at this point he has been) then I think there might be an argument to be made.
He’s young for his draft year, and he’s doing things in his draft -1 and draft -2 that other guys just don’t.
He might not be better than them at 18… but if he lives up to hype then might not be crazy for them to be better than them at 19/20.

If the lottery was today CBJ would have an 86.5% chance of NOT drafting him
Not sure this debate is really worth everyone's time

I have no doubt that he will be better than both of them likely by the time he is done his ELC but we are talking about the best line in hockey and outside our goalie the reason the team won 50 games 111pts and those 3 were boasting a ridiculous +/-
Maybe Bedard, Laine and Johnny all go for 40 and ppg-100+ point players in gear 1 but I wouldn’t make that bet. I absolutely would make the bet if the Jackets get Bedard he will be the best player Johnny plays in with eventually but at 18 seems like a stretch when his linemates last year are considered superstars.

Chunky with 3 points tonight. (20 pts in 14 games) - awesome.
Gaudreau with an assist. (13 points in 15 games)
Monny - 1 assist (9 points in 16 games)
Happy to see all three doing well.
Btw. Sonny Milano has 4 points in 6 games for the caps.
