I don't understand stacking the 4th line though. We can't score, spreading out the talent isn't a solution to that.

Ruzicka - Lindholm - Toffoli
Huberdeau - Kadri - Dube
Mangiapane - Backlund - Coleman

Ride those three lines hard.
It's not "spreading out the talent," though. I think this is pretty clearly just a temporary situation to get Huberdeau back in the lineup, get him going, while also coaching a few slumping players through their current struggles. Does anyone honestly think that this arrangement is one that Sutter envisions to have long-term success? I have no doubt that something like what you posted above is the goal.

This is basically Francis' go to.

I don't understand why the team continues to let him cover the team in any form.

Because the Flames aren't the Oilers. The moment you try to control the narrative, you look like a fool.

Let the media say whatever they like. And assume that truth and sensibility eventually rise to the top.

But he's also a guy that has intangibles that suggest there's more going on when he gets ice time than a simple sort of goals and assists or even xGF% would defend.

For tonight I think this is a way to do a few things (not saying I agree with all of them)

1. Get Huberdeau back into the lineup
2. Bench a fourth liner
3. Try Dube up the middle to get him going
4. Balance the lines with the offence not chugging
I know one thing is when Lucic is on the ice and coming after the puck that's been shot in, there is definite panic in the d-man who is retrieving. This often leads to rushed break-out passes and quick chips up the boards that the Flames recover. Not sure how much of that shows up in advanced metrics.

I do agree that they are do for some good fortune as they have been playing pretty well the last 3-4 games. but more pucks to the middle of the ice, specifically the slot, is very much required. It's not just a case of bounces.

Completely agreed, and I think some of the frustrating absence of this has been on missing Huberdeau, and also on Kadri not playing his best hockey the past couple weeks.

If i could choose one person to get hit with a meteor, it would be Eric Francis. Not wishing any pain, just want him to disappear entirely from earth.

Backlund has been one of the best forwards this season. Huberdeau playing on a line with him shouldn't be seen as a punishment. If he is the player he was built up to be by the fans and media, it shouldn't really matter.

Moving Dube to #4C makes sense, but bumping Lucic up to the 2nd line doesn't. I'd instead give someone like Phillips or Zary a shot at #2RW, or perhaps Ritchie.

Ruzicka - Lindholm - Toffoli
Huberdeau - Kadri - ?
Mangiapane - Backlund - Coleman
Lucic - Dube - Lewis

Then why have Lewis on the RW?

Classic Francis leaving off the last part of the quote.

He even went on to bring up Huberdeau again and how he will help the power play. Francis is sidewalk gum.
