As much as Tkachuk and Gaudreau were ineffective in the playoffs, they both bring an element that very few players in this league have. The skillset of both is missed by this years squad.
Tkachuk has elite around the net presence and there is no one on the team that can drive play like Gaudreau did here with his puckhandling and ability to see the ice.

I said multiple times last spring that he shouldn't have been re signed for big dollars. Last year was a fluke driven by his early season luck.
