It's a new building. It just opened two weeks ago. ASU has played 4 games there so far.

It's a big deal for them because this is only their 5th season as a Division I team and they used to play in a community rink with a capacity of about 1,500.

For the Coyotes, I think it's a combination of certain water-carriers for the league trying to hype it up to make it not seem like the ridiculous joke it is, and the rest of the world staring at it like a car crash... for a franchise that's been nothing but car crashes for a quarter century.

From the photos I've seen of the building today, it looks pretty bare-bones even for a small college rink.

The bizarre hype around this is a head scratcher to me too. The Coyotes got thrown out of their NHL arena for not paying their bills because they're, for all the tents and purses, a bankrupt zombie floating around some how. They're playing in a college arena with open air locker rooms. It's a joke and makes this league look bush. Period.

That was bonkers and an unforgettable experience. My quick recap — will have lots more tomorrow.

Greg Wyshynski and Pete Blackburn are very nice people.

I literally can’t wait to go. Small barns are the best.

Have you been to Winnipegs new arena? A few friends and I have talked about making the road trip but just hasn't lined up yet. Calgary should do a pre season at the corral.

Please try to follow the plot.

Somebody said Edwards should pay for an arena by himself because he has more money than Meruelo. But Edwards isn't going to get any sweetheart deal on land development in Victoria Park, so it's a stupid argument.

Can you elaborate on the atmosphere inside the arena?

Was it the Corral that had super dogs during stampede years ago?

I just don’t think there were enough people there for me to enjoy myself. I really rely on the upper bowl (they didn’t have one, sheesh) to justify my experience.

Will not attend again.

I guess it depends on why you’re there and what you hope to take from these experiences. I’ve been in stadiums I would classify as terrible, but the atmosphere is amazing. They’re small, filled to capacity and it’s fun to be there. By contrast, I’ve also went to the Saddledome for regular season games.

I don’t think it’s about the number of people though.

Hey can you sue the guy? I’d probably have the same excitement level as Scorp after a night like that; an nhl game isn’t just about the venue though that plays an obvious key role in the experience. I think having the level of hockey that is the NHL in a stadium as compact as Mullett arena would be an unforgettable experience.

There was an Athletic article yesterday that summed it up pretty well. This can be both an embarrassment for the NHL and exciting for the Coyotes fans. Seems about right.

Saddledome sucks unless it’s playoffs, and that’s 95% on the fans IMO. Yeah yeah “they’re watching closely” or something. Sure. Don’t be afraid to cheer though, it’s not against the law. Wish our fans buckles the trend and got loud and boisterous.
