When I look at you know actual goalie stats I don’t see numbers that stand above his competition.

The last goalie to come close to his total stats was Saros.

Yup, and Nashville did the right thing by not rushing him into the league. Still spent parts of 3 seasons in the minors before becoming a full time NHLer, and even then he was a backup to Rinne for another few years before becoming their starter.
Give it time. Chill......

How many games did Saros play in the NHL in the season following his rookie year in the ahl? How many ahl games? I know the answer but not sure if you do based on your reply.

Cool. So you're saying he's Saros then? That's interesting, because from what I saw in the preseason he's nowhere near that level.
Give it a rest. You're on an island here with an extreme viewpoint. Be happy we have two good goalies and a quality prospect marinating in the minors. He'll get his shot if he repeats what he did last year.

Really like Vlader so I'm glad he'll be sticking around.
Don't worry about Wolf, if he has another great year and forces his way onto the team, someone will get traded to make room. Not to mention the possibility of injuries. He'll get his shot

Ah yes the "so you're saying (thing that wasn't said) argument".
I agree he will get his shot if he isn't traded and repeats last season. This whole chain of conversation was started when I speculated Wolf could be traded now. Other posters argued that they could/should keep him in the ahl for 3 more seasons to prove himself. My point has always been that his time is soon or probably not at all.
Anyways there's hockey to watch. See you around

Or a good return for Markstrom and Wolf comes up to back up Vladar.

Love the re-signing. Think Vladar has huge untapped potential.

Coachella's 19-man roster that was iced against the Wranglers has close to 2000 games of collective pro experience (NHL, AHL, SHL, FEL), including over 700 NHL games. 10 of those players played in the NHL last year, including one full-time NHLer, and former Jack Adams winner, Dan Bylsma, is their head coach.
By comparison, the Wranglers' 20-man roster had close to 1200 pro games (NHL, AHL, Czech, KHL, AHL) and only 200 NHL games. 5 of those players saw NHL action least season, and Mitch Love is a sophomore pro coach.
There's a pretty stark difference between those two teams. It's impressive that the Wranglers kept things as close as it was

context my friend...nobody is saying Wolf is bad
it was the idea that he is above playing in the AHL that people are disagreeing with

And no one is. The point being made is that Dustin Wolf is not an NHL goalie in waiting. He has plenty of time and plenty to prove yet, but I think everyone agrees that he is great.

Why would Tre trade them to the ducks?

Saros played in the NHL in his 20 year old season.
Wolf turns 22 in April.
Yes, Saros was gradually introduced to the NHL. It's a process that takes considerable time. Wolf hasn't even started this process.

But, Saros had also played two years of pro hockey in Finland's top league before even arriving in North America.
Which would make this his 21-year-old season. Apart from his lack of pro experience he is not far behind Saros, especially considering that Saros appeared in only one game his first season in Nashville.

I also really like Vladar.
Let's just say though that this year Vladar plays lights out and slowly starts taking away more starts from Marky.
Considering his pricetag does the conversation shift between keeping Vladar or Markstrom instead of keeping either one of Vladar or Wolf.
Going to be interesting as I can see a scenario where Vladar slowing starts stealing that number one role here.

But again, it's not just Saros. It's nearly every elite goalie in the league over the past 20 years. In fact, it's not even just elite goalies. I believe every starting goalie in the league, with the exception of Francouz (if he is a starter), played in the league by the time of their 23 year old season.
These are the ages of goalies at the beginning of the season in which they played their first NHL games:
Markstrom: 20
Vasilevsky: 20
Hellebuyck: 22
Shesterkin: 23
Saros: 20
Price: 20
Quick: 21
Halak: 21
Andersen: 23
Gibson: 20
Hart: 20
Varlamov: 20
Keumper: 22
Lehner: 19
Andersen: 21
Vladar: 22
Grubauer: 20
Fleury: 18
Holtby: 20
Mrazek: 20
Campbell: 21
Bobrovsky: 21
Knight: 19
Georgiev: 21
Oettinger: 20
Samsonov: 22
Jarry: 21
Swayman: 21
There's a reason the Flames haven't developed a goalie in decades. It's primarily drafting. Goalies eventually regress in the AHL.

You appear to have cause and effect backwards. When a goalie turns out, after the fact, to be elite in the NHL, chances are that he was ready for NHL games at age 20.
But putting 20-year-old goalies in the NHL doesn't cause them to become elite. That's the same kind of thinking that led the Oilers to think they could make Nurse a $9.25-million defenceman by paying him the money.
Maybe Wolf isn't going to be elite. Maybe he's going to take a slower path to get there. Or maybe, just maybe, he's third on the depth chart behind two good NHL goalies, and there's no point in getting rid of one just to give him a callup.
