 Because he's an awful short stop who over-rates his own ability and is desperate to make highlight reel plays as opposed to learning to play the position properly and smartly.
 
Edit - I don't blame Bo though. I blame team management for letting him call this shot instead of just moving him to 2nd base because they're more worried about Bo not signing long term than they are winning.

Here’s why I didn’t like it. 
 
In an 8-1 game I save my high leverage arms and hope Gausman can get out of that jam. 
 
The trickle effect led to Mayza going two, then having to go to Garcia early, and then going to Pop when what normally would have been Garcias inning led to Romano requiring 6 outs.
