Trading in shares of Twitter were halted after the stock spiked on reports that Elon Musk would proceed with his $44 billion US deal to buy the company after months of legal battles.

While I love to see Elon eat ####, him owning Twitter is going to be a bit of a disaster for everyone. Expect much drama.

I assume the release of those texts and the people involved not wanting more to come out has influenced this decision.

I'm sure that is what it comes down to. Lawyers convinced him he would lose, so better to go willing.
TSLA down about 5% since the news came out, but it was up ~2.7% before that today, so not a big hit.

Edit: Full disclosure, I think Musk is a dips**t

Several people I follow are tweeting that they’ll leave Twitter over this. I doubt they’ll carry through.

Why would tweeters leave twitter over this?

Because you don't like contributing to the finances and success of the new owner? That's like asking why would anyone stop shopping at Hobby Lobby. Seems pretty obvious.

Could also be that his texts didn't have any discussion about concerns over bots, that doesn't help his court case.
One of the companies Musk hired to analyze Twitter's numbers on bots confirmed Twitter's numbers too.
So yeah all that together might have convinced him he's probably not going to win in court?

The way people are addicted to social media likes, I’d really like to see some of these tweeters and “influencers” follow through on their promise. Very few people offer anything of substance on these platforms anyway. I see posturing when it comes to these individuals. No, your stance isn’t going to sway him away from doing whatever he does.
Disclaimer: I hate Musk. Another guy who craves the attention and adoration of his plebs.

Has anyone stopped buying Teslas? Where do people think he got the money for this?

I don't like Musk at all but I own a Tesla. If you like something it's kind of silly to deprive yourself of it because you the owner's a goof. I don't love Murray Edwards but it doesn't get in the way of me supporting the Flames.

I don't like Musk but I might buy a Tesla.. it depends on how 'bad' the person is, what level their ownership/involvement was, etc.

How many Americans actually moved to Canada when Trump became president? Certainly none of the numerous celebrities that said they would.

Oh even funnier was their second threat when he was up for re-election, claiming the same thing. These people are so annoying. They all love to shout the loudest.

What would be pretty funny is Musk closes the Twitter deal then the Supreme Court removes Section 230 liability protection for user generated content ( https://www.politico.com/news/2022/1...utube-00060007) and then Twitter gets sued into oblivion.
