Rooney signed to a 2 year 1 way deal, feels like it's his job to lose and he hasn't lost it. Don't know why they'd waste a contract and the cap on a guy (Eakin) that would basically be Trevor Lewis at this point.

Why waste 1.3 million on a 4th line C if you are going to sign a PTO to platoon with him? That's 2 million tied up on the bottom line along with Lucic.

That's why it makes sense to give Milano a spot over Eakin. He will be playing with a skilled C on either of the 3 lines so his chances will go up.

$2 million "tied up"? Not sure if this is serious because that's the minimum going rate for any level of experience for the 4th line. Lucic's contract is a different animal that cannot be helped.
