The Win Column looked at Milano closely back in July when he was talked about as FA signing: https://thewincolumn.ca/2022/07/18/f...-sonny-milano/

I would suspect Milano’s ask is somewhere in the one- or two-year range at an AAV between $2–2.5 million.
Must suck for him if that's what his ask was and he ends up attending camp on a PTO.

But he was out of the league in short order only playing 13 games the next year between Montreal and Atlanta.
Nigel Dawes sucked, he was mediocre at everything and a turnover machine. I don't see any comparison at all.

I think he could fit really well with Toffoli or Coleman

I think you could put Milano’s Nona with Backlund, and even she would look like a solid, two-way player.

Yeah, unless you are seriously worried he's going to permanently injure himself why not give him a shot.

I do hope the Flames are getting all kinds of specialists to keep tabs. This ain't one of Sutter's "rub dirt on it" scenarios.

Grabbing opponents by the ear for starting scrums would be an effective deterrent.

Place to live, sure. But there’s no denying on the hockey side, they’re more appealing because of the two forwards on that team.

Not everyone wants to sit on the bench and watch Pissy and McHobo play six minute shifts that could have been ice-time given to them.

That is not necessarily true. Both teams are currently considered contenders and at the top of the Pacific division. Anywhere from 1-4 forwards get to play with 1 or both of those players depending if they split them up or not. Markstrom literally had both teams offering him big money long term deals and he picked Calgary.

Oilers won a playoff series last year so they have the bragging rights but the Oilers are certainly not a lock to be more appealing than the flames. Flames finished 7pts ahead last year and have an open spot on the wing after strengthening the middle of the ice and blueline last year.

I see Sonny wears 12 if he makes the team I hope he gets 13.

I don't believe this is true at all. I am emphatically denying it.

Similar amount of years in the league and production. Dawes was 24 with 51 points in 143 games played before he joined the Flames. Milano has 81 in 197 games. Toss out last year and he'd have 47 in 131 games after finishing his age 25 season. Dawes would go to 93 in 209 if you included his age 24/25 season with the Flames.

Both guys are more skilled type undersized wingers.

That's how I see the comparison. Teams probably look at Milano and think what you did of Dawes after that season with the Flames...hence why he's on a PTO.

Did Dawes ever have good advanced/microstats though? And Dawes was a 0.5 P/GP forward at $850K when we bought him out... that never made much sense either.

I find it funny how gaga the media is about the Oilers, it makes it more enjoyable when they miss the playoffs.

Milano is quite a bit taller... wouldn't really call him undersized he is average. It's an odd comparison... especially going back a decade.

Yeah unless you are playing on the top line there isn't much benefit in going to Edmonton and sit on the bench...they don't even have a #2 power play
