NYI booed Tavares pretty hard, not sure why the defenders/don’t boo Johnny crowd can’t understand how this is a normal thing considering HOW Johnny left. Almost verbatim to the Johnny T scenario.

Boo away, during the games (like with Fox and Tavares).
But booing the video tribute would just be a low-class embarrassment
The Flames posted a 50 second video clip thanking Johnny for his 8 years in Calgary, I don't think he is getting a video tribute. Probably something on the jumbotron during a commercial break.

Isn't that what a video tribute is? I don't think it needs to be a full on, pre-game production.

O.K. there has been a lot of talk on whether or not MacTavish has actually done a good job for us, most fans on this board are very basic in their analysis and I feel would change their opinion entirely if the team was successful.

Most recently, Seattle fans booed the return of Russell Wilson. It's just how sports works.
I also feel bad that David Rittich never got a video. I recall he just got off Covid protocol and wasn't dressed when Nashville came to Calgary early last year. I think too much time has passed now...
I have never hear anything about Gaudreau involved in the community, golly, the new kid we got from Panthers went visited a sick kid in Children Hospital already, bring him a Flames jersey. Even Guy, his dad, played shinny with fans. I just don't think he embrace Calgary as much as he said in press conferences. If he never embraced us, why should we embrace him?
Fair enough and likely accurate. But Gaudreau is gone so no sense expending energy on him anymore.
Which current player should we not embrace because they’re not spending enough time in the community?

I know in his rookie year he did go to the childrens hospital with some other Flames team mates. A nurse went up to Johnny and said "The Flames are here! Are you excited to meet them?" Johnny responded "I'm on the team.."
Haven't heard anything about him doing anything in the community since besides coming during stampede and partying.

Having villains makes sports more fun. If I'm at that game I'm going to loudly boo and enjoy every second of it. The dude had a chance to sign here, waited until the last second then made a baffling decision to go to Columbus. Full heel turn if you ask me that the fanbase needs to run with.

May be I shouldn't use "we" in my reply to another post. You can embrace him if you want, I am not saying you cannot or should not. And for the record, I am not expending any energy on him being gone. And there is no point getting into debate which current player should we not embrace.
Sometimes they just post a Thank You [insert player] on the jumbotron and they just say welcome back and they get a quick applause.
I don't think we want that Islanders situation that was pretty embarrassing.
It will be during a commercial break and will include some of his key highlights likely capped by his game 7 OT goal and a thank you Johnny message they likely will get an applause from the fans.
