I think there is pretty much no chance of that. The Flames are finally deep down the middle and Sutter in his Tuesday interview with Francis went on and on about how centre depth killed them in the playoffs.

As dissentowner said Sutter and Brad have been talking lately about how they finally have centre depth, they will not trade from centre to strengthen the wings. Plus, Backlund is at a point where he's more valuable to us than what we could get in a trade.

defensive/checking skill doesn't mean as much on the market as goals and points. Plus, teams now see Backlund as our third centre, with two years at over $5mil left. It's not right, but the market would not be high for Backlund and our fans would be severely underwhelmed by a return for him.
