Of course, as this thread has clearly shown, my opinion is about as efficacious as it was in 2008.

Has ricardo even been right about anything in the last 13-14 years?
I think the results would be inversely proportional to Textcritic's.

I feel like people are unfairly judging Coronato based on the fact that he is Americian and we just had 2 high profile Americians. Not everyone is cut from the same cloth.
Lets just be happy we have a solid RW in the system regardless of nationality

Interested to see how he’d match up.

No, college players don't participate in those events.

NCAA players do indeed participate in NHL development camps:
https://gocrimson.com/news/2022/7/15...ent-camps.aspx
From the article:

	Quote:

		| Harvard men's ice hockey sent 15 current players to NHL Development Camps beginning this week.
The NHL camps, which do not affect student-athletes NCAA eligibility, are designed to give players the experience of an NHL training camp. Team draft picks, prospects, and free agent invitees participate in on-ice practice and scrimmage sessions, medical and fitness testing and meetings and seminars, as well as off-ice team-building activities.
 |
However, as I understand it, they're not allowed to attend either the main training camp or the rookies' portion of camp before the veterans report.

Yeah, they participate in the July camps, but not the September ones. I assumed Goriders was referring to the September camps since July was 2 months ago.

I believe the September one isn't considered a development camp by NCAA standards, but as part of the main camp. It is therefore, of course, Doubleplusungood for college athletes to go there, as they would pick up Professional Cooties.

*BORING OLD-TIMEY STORY WARNING*

Way back in 1898, Jack ‘Doc’ Gibson and his team from Berlin, Ontario (now Kitchener), won a provincial amateur championship. The mayor of Berlin gave each of the winning players a $10 gold coin to celebrate their achievement, whereupon the Ontario Hockey Association charged them with turning professional and banned the entire team.

Four years later, Gibson got his revenge by starting the first professional hockey team. He followed that up by starting the first pro hockey league. Top amateur players from all over Canada ditched their clubs to turn pro. Fifteen players from that league are now in the Hockey Hall of Fame.

The NCAA, it would appear, is still stuck in 1898.

I'm gobsmacked that you've reached the age of mumblety-mumble without being familiar with Nineteen Eighty-Four.
There are three remedies for this:

1. Read the book.
2. See the movie (I recommend the version with John Hurt and Richard Burton).
3. Report yourself to the Thought Police!

Not sure about this kid. He might only have two 3+ point nights in the preseason championship.
