Smith is my all time most hated Flames alumni. He's such a hot shot individual over the team guy, but he's not even that good. His puck handling misplay in the Iginla jersey retirement was the ultimate sin in my mind. It was a game about the team, and about the best player to ever wear the jersey and he ####ing had to try and steal the show. Such a piece of garbage guy. #### him.

Nothing personal. He could be the nicest guy in the world, but he was expensive and not very good.

What did you like about him? I can't recall him really doing anything to stand out.

I want to say Gaudreau here too. I don't like how this ended, but for the time that he was here, he made watching Calgary Flames games more enjoyable as he was incredibly entertaining.

 Least liked:
 Marchment (RIP) - dirty player
Drury - didn't want to be here
Riseborough (I definitely liked him as a player, so not sure this counts)
 Gauthier - dirty player
Shantz - I really don't know, but he always annoyed me
Dingman - useless all the time, even as a face-puncher
Fleury - himself first over the team
Niedermayer - traded too much for him
LeClerc - thought he was better than he really was, and punchable face
 Mark Hunter - dirty player

Players like Hulse - they just weren't good. Not their fault they kept getting played. I thought they gave an honest effort, but were just over their heads. If this was a 'top 10 worst players in Flames' history", then this is where I would add him.

Gary Leeman I understand, but he fluked to a 50 goal season one year, and Riseborough got caught stat-watching. I think Leeman was a deer caught in headlights coming to Calgary. He was at the start of his decline already in Toronto by the looks of it, but he was destined to fail here with that amount of vitriol and pressure. I always felt sorry for him more than anything. Olcyk made him a star from what I vaguely remember as a kid, and Riseborough paid for him as if Leeman was the star in his prime, rather than the one giving up the star.

 8. Trevor Kidd (I was a kid/goalie then & I love goalie gear aesthetics, deal with it)
 9. Mike Cammalleri
 10. Denis Gauthier (loved when he destroyed ppl)

 Least:

 1. Lance Bouma (you know why...yes I believe it)
 2. Chris Dingman (worst Flame evers)
 3. Lanny McDonald (there's a story there ha-ha)
 4. James Neal
 5. Johnny Gaudreau c. July 2022

EDIT: I had a tough time with the Least Fav list, hence why it's only 5 and mostly recent. I love to love..

There is a lot of Jason Wiemer dislike here holy… I thought he played a great type of game. Guy is still in the community, he’s a beauty.

Haha. Very valid reasons on your part.

I was a sullen teenager when they acquired him and I bought his jersey because nobody else had it and I wanted to be different, and then I proceeded to turn being a David Jones fan into my obnoxious personality for around a year. I have thankfully grown out of that phase, and now I merely have a fond nostalgia for the days he ran around in the playoffs wreaking havoc with Ferland and Stajan.

He was much better in 2014–15 than you remember. I maintain that. But the rest of the time, he was big, very injury-prone, and not much else — not really what you want from somebody making $4 million a year.

It's funny ... if the Flames acquired someone like David Jones today, I probably wouldn't like him much at all. Certainly not if they traded Alex Tanguay for him. But at the time, I just thought he was a lot of fun ... and, for some reason, I made a point of defending him to an excessive extent.

It was honestly so innocent and sweet on your behalf. Lol. D. Jones was just not good at all.

I specifically remember this phase and it was oddly funny and endearing.
