Go for simplicity. Most things are simple.

I don't deny that your view is plausible - likely probable. However, I am not convinced that the simplest explanation is these people are reporting from separate independent sources. We have two of the most leak-proof organizations in the NHL in NYI and the Flames involved and nothing from people who regularly break NHL news. Instead, we have people that many here have suggested are not news breakers making statements. You may be correct. In my view, it is simpler to think that these people are checking their twitter feeds and reporting from that - as a lot of reporting occurs today even outside of sports.

Sounds like a pretty unresolved issue. Not something thats signed and sealed.

Some team should help them clear space by offer sheeting Dobson.

Gaudreau to NJ was done too
CBJ offered him 12M ect.

neither of those points were even close to as widely reported, and both were only ever posted as rumor. These are being posted by people as a fact.

Why? Why couldnt the Isles and Kadri have an agreed upon contract that is "signed" and sealed, but not yet submitted due to the isles needing to do more cap wizardry, and Lou believing, for example, that he would be in a slightly less positive position to make deals if that was actually actively counting against his cap? Doesn't mean it's not sitting on his desk waiting to be submitted.
This is paperwork pedantry.

Maybe we could work out a long term extension at less than the QO number, but I would certainly want assurances first if Coronato was involved in the deal.
|
Could Brad do get another sign and trade? That is a good point I would hate to give up Coronato for what would be a 1-2 year stop gap but if we could get the 8 years it would be nice. Barzal isa western Canadian kid and the Flames have the best playmaking LW in the league who is locked up for 9 years so that could be a selling point. I think it is fantasy talk at the end of the day but it seems a lot of flames fans have been pining for Barzal for some reason which makes me wonder if he is available for the right price?

Okay, but if he signs a contract to be here that all goes out the window. This isn’t a trade scenario. Are you scared he would want out after a season? I’m confused

There wasn't time for Gaudreau rumours to get that widely circulated. This situation has been brewing for weeks, that one was resolved within a day.
Not comparable.

Yes, I agree, not comparable situations. That was the point of my post. Thank you for your agreement.

What about Pageau? RHS Center. Well known for 2 way play. Slipped from an NTC to a M-NTC on July 1. 5 mill a year for 4 more years.

Taking a while to get to 5000

It would feel like a bit of an overpayment considering it would have been for only a few months of Stone but....yeah.

This makes no sense, and I can't understand why it keeps coming up.
If Kadri signs with the Flames, he will have done so voluntarily - are you worried that he will have coerced himself into it, and will be unhappy with his own decision?

Yes actually. He seems to have priced himself out of most teams, and would be "settling" for what he could get. That's never a recipe for success. I could (and probably am) be wrong, but if he does sign here, I hope it's cause he actually wants to be a Flame and not because he had to sign or miss out.

I thought the point of your post was that we should take these rumours about the Islanders and Kadri seriously because they've been repeated a lot. I wasn't agreeing with that.

Ottawa adding Debrincat, Giroux, Chychrun, while dumping Murray would be a hell of a summer. Talbot is pretty average so not the best pickup but not a long term move. Really tough division to make the playoffs but if their young guys take a big step they could be one of the most improved teams this year
