Am I throwing a fit? Can I not have an opinion that the poeple that claim that he just arbitrarily decided to screw Calgary are not taking everything into account?

I hope you're not my pilot next time I fly.

Unlikely to happen, but what happens if Lucic decides to retire? Any cap implications to the flames, does he have to pay back the SB part of his contract?

Might have missed this if discussed earlier.

The only realistic destination for Lucic to me is Anaheim because he might actually want to play there, and they have oodles of cap space.

I don't think anyone in this era is an albatross at $3.75M. The average fourth line player makes roughly $1M, intangibles like intimidation and cup history have some value ... call it $1M.

He's overpaid by $1.75M in that scenario which isn't all that hard to stomach if you want the player.

Different if he's at $5.75M though.

If the average 4th line players makes $1M, that’s lucic’s standard. His intangibles are the only thing making him a 4th line player. Without them, he wouldn’t be playing.

This discussion really shouldn't be that hard.

He's different than your average fourth line plug. He has a aura both in the room and on the ice. He can still play a role in changing the fabric of a game (like we saw in that crazy game in Nashville towards the end of the season).

Having said that I'm not making the case that everyone wants him, or that Calgary should renew him at $3.75M ... just saying you eat $2M and you probably find him a home that won't require you to toss in huge sweeteners.
