That was an excellent return game from Leylah, that forehand up the line to set up the break point was vintage Fernandez.

Leylah was down 2-love to start set 2, but has won three games on the hop. Clearly some rust and some nerves, but she is hitting some very nice shots tonight.

Yup some obvious rust for sure. Sanders also deserves credit.

Sanders really upped her level in the tie-break and we're going three sets. Leylah did have two match points at 4-5 in set 2.

A big hold from Leylah down love-30 and then she breaks Sanders and is serving at 3-2 in set 3.

Tracy Austin on a different channel said that's the best she's ever seen Storm Sanders play. Sanders is a highly ranked doubles player, but that was some fine singles play from the Aussie tonight.

Tough upcoming match for Leylah who takes on Beatriz Haddad Maia who has won two tourneys in 2022 (they were on clay mind you).

Honestly, if Leylah just wins the next match it's a good tourney for her. Coming back and beating someone in the top 25 would be great.

Like Bianca, Leylah needs match time going into the US Open. Considering they are both not in great shape physically right now, you can't expect the world at this event, but at the same time, Leylah is young and entering the prime of her career.
I expect she should make the 3rd round against Swiatek and give her a good run.

Tough loss for Rebecca Marino today taken on the young lady from China Quiwen Zheng. Rebecca won the opening set 6-3 but then lost the nest two sets 7-6 6-4. Was up 4-3 in the second set tie-break, but couldn't close it out.

I didn't see any of this match, but PCB taking out Berrettini 6-3 6-2 is a heck of a result.
Edit: Tommy Paul just finished off Vasek 6-4 6-4. Pretty good effort from Pops coming back from yet another injury.

Alexis Galarneau is up 4-1 over Dimitrov in set 2 trying to force a third set after dropping the opening set 6-4 to Grigor.
