Has anyone touched on the fact Brad did this over a dinner in Montreal before Hubey even set foot in Calgary as his new home? What kind of voodoo horse tranquilizer pixie dust was sprinkled into the lobster to get this done?
I gotta see what this masterplan blueprint he laid out to get it done so quick.
I was most definately teetering on the side of giving up my seasons for over 20 years when this off season was going to $*** but Brad you sob, im in!!!

Very debateable........ depending on definition of superstar.

In the last 5 seasons he is right with Patrick Kane, Marchand, Panarin, Gaudreau in terms of production.

Only 3 ahead of them are the two dummies up North and Mackinnon.

He put up 115 points playing primarily with Sam Bennett as his centre. That is a super star to me.

Why even bother watching or following the team then? Are you also this miserable when you're not watching hockey?

He wasn't going to sign for anything less than 8 x $10.5m AAV because everyone and their dog knew they offered that to the other 115 point left winger in the league last year.
I'm sorry, but any Flames fan who isn't happy about this needs to take off their arm chair GM hat and just try being the fan of a really good hockey team that is trying to win the Cup.

They had 111 points last year for F sakes.

I thought they were boned when Gaudreau walked and Tkachuk publicly asked for a trade. then Treliving pulled off this miracle.

Hey. You might very well be right. But we are lucky we have a team in front of us that is prioritizing winning right now. A lot of franchise fanbases would be envious
 |
That and the blow it up crowd finds it so much easier to speculate on what the magic beans you could've got for JH and MH and what they may turn into..those picks of 18 or 19 year old kids would be taken in 2 to 3 years from now, impact with the team in 3 to 5 at very best, and then it's BTs fault for not picking the right magic beans if they don't turn out.

Perpetually unhppy/unsatisfied because their speculative abilities about the future are easily defensed.

Over 1.2ppg in his last 4 seasons which works out to 99pts per 82 games since he really broke out. This guy is a superstar.

In the last three seasons it’s just the two dummies up North.

He’s maybe not the best all around player…but he’s an offensive superstar that makes player around him better

I guess 8 years is a little long and $10.5M is a little high.
But in reality the cap is $82.5M right now and it'll be a little higher next year, so 12.5% of the cap when the deal starts. What percentage of the total cap will it be in years 6-8?

As long as he doesn't turn into Jamie Benn level of uselessness in the next couple years, he'll be well worth it.
