$2.5 mil is a steal for how he played in the regular season

Fair deal here - would have liked term and not to walk him to UFA, but at least his deal lines up with Hanifin, Zadorov, and Tanev, and they won't keep all 4 of these guys in the top 4 with Andersson and hopefully Weegar. So the 15.7M in these guys goes to keeping 2 of them and hopefully having depth come up through the system

Yeah don't love that it walks him right to UFA.
Would have preferred three years to buy at least one year of UFA.
But do get that the Flames might not love paying for one good year, and that Oliver would also like to bet on himself

I’m guessing his trade value wasn’t very high either. If the option is to trade him for not a lot give him a long term deal for double of this I’m ok with this.
Selling off players might negatively impact keeping Huberdeau and Weegar.
