The destruction of Metropolis made sense to me as a rookie Superman just desperately trying to stop Zod while having no idea how. They could have built off of it in a second movie but then Avengers came out and it was all hands on deck to get a Universe going.

Man of Steel was great. I especially enjoyed them somewhat breaking the character mold and having him kill Zod. It was a sophies choice if you will... lol
But it was awesome, and it honestly humanized him more than anything else I've seen done with the character.
Everything else after... well... I mean Thor came back from The Dark World so...

Yeah, it's kind of weird how well MoS has aged, for me anyway. I'm sure someone will jump in to say that it's worse than that music video about Friday.
I was a pretty big Superman fan and my most prominent emotion after seeing it in theater was disappointment. The curse of expectations I guess.
I've seen it a handful of times since and I would say it's quite enjoyable.
I can't understand that perspective. The movie butchered so many important things about the Superman mythos.
It's one of the single worst interpretations of Superman in any medium.
Oh no.. we're at risk of them messing this up by changing to much.
Stick to the formula!! It worked so well back then!!
