I think if you move Monahan and sign Kadri you make this team 10x better. Kadri could still pot a huge amount of points with someone like Huberdeau on his wing.

Need to be careful though. We’ll have to keep one of Lucic or Monahan. We’ll need the cap space they’ll create becoming free agents next year.

I wonder if they trade Killington now for a forward.

Well that's not true at all. If it was none of these guys on LTIR would be traded.

Really even just moving Lucic creates more than enough space for Kadri.
And Monahans expiring covers Huberdeau’s raise and part of Weegars

I don't want Kadri at all.
Guy is 32, averages around 50 points a year except this season and wants a long term 8 million dollar deal.
That is going to be a disaster.
Just sign Stasny (cheap option) or Bergeron (likely similar money) to a one year deal instead.

I think Bergeron either retires or goes back to Boston. I highly doubt he'd even consider any other options.

With how long Kadri has been sitting I don't think he is getting 8mil offers.

I guess I could stomach a 4 year deal.

Who knows !
If he is I would much rather want him.
Kadri is probably on a very similar level to Backlund, would anyone want to pay Backs 8 million?
Yes he is slightly better but nothing substantial.
I wouldn't even give him 7 million. We finally have the chance to slightly retool the team, adding Kadri at 7-8 million refrains you from spending elsewhere.

Kadri will likely end up signing a 6 x $6-6.5MM contract somewhere, just likely not here.

I would see if the Devils have any interest in Hanifin. For the right package of forwards I would move him. I have way more faith that Sutter can develop dman and would like to see him have a year or two with Valimaki.

I just don't get why so many people are on the "sign Kadri" train. It's a disaster waiting to happen. Almost 32 years old, coming off a freak season ... and being UFA, you have to overpay both in terms of AAV and term. I'd happily take Kadri on something like 4 x 5.5m or 6m, because that's closer to what he actually is ... but in UFA, that quickly becomes 6 x 7m, possibly even more. After seeing James Neal in Calgary, it just baffles me that so many on here seem to think this is a good idea.

I like this, could see some maybe around Hanifin for Bratt?

I'm not the biggest Hanifin fan but I'm not sure why you'd want to create a hole in the top 4 D immediately after plugging it up with Weegar.
Also didn't Leslie say to be careful not to lump all Americans in the same flight risk category and then specifically use Hanifin as an example as an American who loves it in Calgary?

We never lost anyone from our top 4 from last year. If there is a hole that was plugged it was out number 5 dman.
