awesome trade for Seattle. About time Francis cashes in on the opportunities of being an expansion team in term of cap space etc.

Lucky break that Gaudreau doesn't know any of the players on Columbus or he might be annoyed with this.

Bad trade, but works out to Bjorkstrand+3rd+4th for Johnny.

Silly to compare to TDL deals.

.
No.

There are countless ways for them to get out their cap issues. For example - they don't have to sign Gudbranson to a $4m contract. Or they can attach a pick to Nyquist and get rid of him.

You can't just throw a free agent signing into a trade to make it seem palatable.

Good trade for Seattle. Good use of cap space.

They should have attached a pick to Nyqvist before doing this

This is one of the most lopsided trades I've seen since the Buchnevich deal.

My guess is that Columbus is trying to change the attitude in the locker room. They are probably trying to retain players that really want to be there, to avoid another round of everyone demanding out.

If Seattle can fix their goaltending, defense and coaching they might have something this year.

Bjorkstrand has 4 more years and was one of the guys that signed long term after Duchene, Panarin, and Bob left.

It’s purely a cap dump and a panic move by Jarmo IMO

Lol.

And getting a 1st line. Their leading scorer had 49 points last year.

Seattle has a couple of 2nd lines but no 1st line.

McCann-Gourde-Eberle is nowhere near a 1st line. Wennberg and Schwartz are also 2nd line type players. Even getting Bjorkstrand now, he is probably their best forward which is....sad.

They of course have Wright and Beniers coming up though who could both be studs.

Don't discount a team with Bernier and Wright in the pipeline. Great pieces moving forward.

Seems like a good deal for Seattle. I remember Mike Johnson calling Bjorkstrand underrated last year. But he is a bit small, and to be -35..I'd need to see more data to see why that happened. Should help add more skill on the wings for the Kraken.

They have a bright future, no doubt. The present is a bit of a shoulder shrug but you never know.

Really dislike Hakstol as a coach.

I feel like CBJ panicked a bit. They had time to get under the cap

When you have a chance to sign Gudbranson for 4x4 and then give up one of your best forwards for peanuts a couple weeks later, you just have to do it.
