And the warm bodies filling those voids will score exactly.....0 goals?

I thought we would be fine, easily make the playoffs, and compete for the division again without Gaudreau.

Now without Tkachuk, I think there's no way. We'll be a bubble team at best. I say blow it up.

The Flames have been an inconsistent team at best when it comes to simply making the playoffs WITH Gaudreau and Tkachuk.

I don't know how anyone could bet that this will still be a playoff team without them.

Blow it up, or.........Trade Tkachuk and sign Landphil and Kadri to 1 year contracts at a steep overpay and give Darryl one more shot. Then blow it.

Vezina Finalist goalie
Solid D core
Selke nominee Center
Darryl Sutter Coach

I think 3rd in the division is possible, or a wildcard spot.

Probably minimal, especially if the Flames go for primarily futures? How do you think the Oilers would do if they lost McDavd and Draisaitl? You lose players of that caliber and there is no replacing that scoring with "warm bodies."

Yeah if The Urine lost Mcdink and Pissy pants they would be way worse off than Calgary.

They aren't competing for last that is for sure.

Yeah, a bunch of players had career years that they are unlikely to replicate and the two best players are leaving.

It's more likely that this team finishes 17-20th in the league which is virtually the worst situation the team could find itself in.

Either the Flames are mediocre for 2-3 years and are dragged into a rebuild, or they can start it now and trade some of these core pieces after many of them just had career years.

We talk all the time on this forum about not trading Iginla earlier... are we going to let it happen with this iteration of the Flames?

Hischer+ or Bratt+
Kyrou+
Barzal+

Something like that is my guess.
These all seem like good trades IMO

Don’t get me wrong, right now is the perfect time to start a rebuild.

Markstrom Tanev Lindholm all should have a ton of value.

I just don’t see the Flames ever doing this.

God save us if they plug holes with long term ugly UFA contracts like Kadri and Klingberg

Tbh. If Chucky is being open and honest about a trade I can’t be too mad at him. It just sucks that we’re likely losing two 40 goal, 100 point players in the same off-season. #### this

Is Tkachuk being open? I haven't seen anything from him specifically. Feels like a lot of smoke around the guy who has been completely silent on the subject.

Trading Tkachuk could be the pinnacle of selling high

This return plus the 20M in cap could be massive if done properly

I would say those aren't warm bodies.

We are likely to get one quality body back for next season, then futures. I don't see a free agent lining up to play in Calgary after these loses, but stranger things have happened. Depends on how Treliving throws the money around I guess.

It’s so damn whacky to see two of the best players in the league leave within a few weeks of each other. What a wild turn of events this is for the organization.

It also the perfect excuse to start a rebuild. If the Flames don’t rebuild after this, they never will.

It's not a rebuild unless we trade Markstrom & Lindholm. A couple other guys would get some decent pieces/picks back but moving those two would have the biggest results on an improved draft pick.

If Tkachuk leaves, we should clean house... Doubt we do though.

I see Bratt+ as a pretty likely return for Tkachuk or, in a similar vein, Kyrou+. Kadri - I think he's going to sign somewhere which he didn't expect for less term and less money.
