Where's Corey Perry signing ?
At least we would get to the finals...

If Kadri comes in at say 4-5 years around 6-7M I think I would be okay with that.
Any more term/dollars would be a resounding no I think.
I feel someone else will offer him more AAV and term, so I'm okay with Calgary passing.
Ride it out, and rebuild otherwise.

bring back Jarnkrok. Stay far away from Kadri.

Kadri is a fit, but the term and salary he'll command as a UFA is not.

If the team is still going to try and win I'm all aboard the Kadri train. He won't replace Gaudreau's scoring but he will add more grit and make the Flames deeper down the middle. They may not be a 100 point team but I think Darryl could get them in the playoffs with Kadri added to the current roster. Clearly the Tkachuk situation could alter expectations but for my own entertainment purposes I would much rather watch a good team trying to win than a mediocre team trying to win. Mediocrity is the worst place for a team to be in the NHL.

Think Kadri easily gets $8-8.5M AAV. And there may be a GM crazy enough to give him term.

Weird that there's been no reports of offers though.

Why though? Honestly. I feel like everyone in hockey understands the position he had last year on that team.
He’s going to make bank here, but I don’t see how he gets Gaudreau or Forsberg money. It doesn’t make any sense at all.

I agree with this 100%. It’s also worth mentioning (or maybe repeating) that at the time of the nixed Brodie trade, Kadri exercised his NTC in order to stay in Toronto, where at the time he loved playing. He did not do so to avoid Calgary, he actually has family here.
Wouldn’t surprise me one bit if he got a competitive enough offer that he would be willing to play here, especially under Sutter.

Just a quick look at Capfriendly:
San Jose: 19/23 players signed with $9.58M in projected cap space.
Nashville: 19/23 players, $9.61M cap space
Detroit: 22/23 players, $10.2M cap space
Chicago: 19/23 players, $10.6M cap space
Seattle: 19/23 players, $10.6M cap space
NY Islanders: 19/23 players, $11.2M cap space
Dallas: 21/23 players, $11.5M cap space
Winnipeg: 16/23 players, $15.3M cap space
New Jersey: 18/23 players, $16.5M cap space
Calgary: 18/23 players, $18.5M cap space
Ottawa: 16/23 players, $19.6M cap space
Buffalo: 21/23 players, $20.4M cap space
Arizona: 23/23 players, $23.0M cap space
Anaheim: 16/23 players, $30.8M cap space
So it depends what his priorities are, but Calgary might represent the best mix of available money to pay him, role on the team, and chance to play in the playoffs.
Perhaps the Flames could be a good fit without breaking the bank. Unless he just wants to cash in with a non-competitive team.

He outscored Forsberg last season. And over the last six seasons has had similar points totals to him. So I think he's very much the barometer for the kind of AAV Kadri is going to get. Kadri is also the only big name forward left, and lots of holes GMs need to fill.

Will they though? Gaudreau at 29 got 7x$9.75. Kadri at 32 getting 5x7 seems pretty good for him. Look at what other UFAs are getting and it’s not mind blowing. He may be running out of suitors as well. Who needs a 2C in the league right now and is willing to pay an older guy a lot of money? Rangers can’t afford him. Mtl can’t. Philly can’t. Ottawa?

I have no problem bringing in Kadri the player.
He's a C, he's gritty, he's skilled
Problem is he just had a career year at 32 years old and will be most likely looking to cash in. Term and AAV will both be too much probably.
5 years by $7 million AAV might not be too bad though if some team gives him that. He might be fairly productive for most of that, if not all.

Forsberg is 4 years younger and has outscored Kadri pretty consistently, bar last season (which was a complete outlier in Kadri's career). Kadri should get nowhere near what Forsberg got, but GMs get desperate in free agency ... it's probably a contract that the team that signs him will regret very, very quickly. He's turning 32 this fall, has just won a cup and is coming off a career year, it's a combination that can only end in tears.

Forsberg may have gotten $9.5M had he reached UFA.
But we'll see. Forsberg has been less injury prone than Kadri, for sure, but pts/gp they're pretty close the past six seasons.

That number for Calgary is deceiving as it does not include cap hits for unsigned RFA’s, I.E. Tkachuk, Mangiapane and Kylington
In other words, we aren’t in a position to sign him without letting RFA’s walk.
