I like to think the final nail in the coffin was last night when Vladdy was yelling to the dugout not to challenge the play at first since he knew he missed the bag, and Montoyo ignored him and did anyway.

There was something off with this season Jays from the start so this was inevitable. I would have done it sooner. He didn't have the greatest roster to work with but his baseball decisions are atrocious. Has no feel for the game in front of him.
No get rid of the hitting coach and pay Dante Bichette to just stand somewhere around the stadium.

Like the Ward firing I thought it should happen but wasn't expecting it to happen today after winning last night.
Montoyo is a good person and you want good people to succeed but he wasn't going to take the Blue Jays to the next level. Picking up his option before the season even started was a mistake.

Really happy they moved on from Montoyo although it should have happened a lot sooner imo.
I'm sure he is a great guy and for that I am sad it didn't work out but he was clearly not qualified to take the team to another level.

As bad as this season has gone, I blame the management team more than Montoyo. They have done such a piss poor job of addressing organizational pitching depth and the bullpen.
Montoyo has played the players that he has. That’s not to say he is a good manager…he’s been shown time and time again that he is, at best, a manager for a developing team.
