Dammit. First Kane and now Burns?

How the hell do the Sharks get so many 'Get Out of Jail Free' cards?

Erik Karlsson is still enjoying the bay area.

Makes more sense than Dallas, which was also rumoured to be in on him.

Friedman said Burns has a house in Texas…though obviously it’s a big state. DAL also needs a Klingberg replacement and doesn’t mind employing the elderly.

But CAR makes sense for a guy chasing his first cup

Burns is still a very productive player. Makes sense that there is interest.

Vlasic and Karlsson at those cap hits though.

Friedman speculated Kevin Labanc is likely to be traded too. Maybe they go together.

Doesn't Burns have a NMC?

He likely would waive to go to Carolina.

I just see with Hieskinen no reason to have another huge amount of money to a D man. Just like when San Jose added Karlsson there is only so much PP time, just seems like money could be better spent elsewhere.

Hey, if I was a rich pro athlete not concerned about winning a championship anytime soon, I would live in Cali too.

I'll be judging Grier harshly for his first trade, so he better nail this lol

Just being at games here in San Jose the last decade, Burns was a fan favorite. Most of the jerseys were him. Marleau, Thornton and Pavelski. They were that core group of players for awhile. Couture is the only real one left. Burns has 3 years left at 8 M but he put up 54 points last year. I think he still has a few years of 50 points in him.

This is a great trade for Carolina who went from Deangelo to Burns for a player who was going to be roughly the same cost, older but without the massive headaches and controversy.

Basically no return at all despite the retention. I wonder if SJ is going to follow CHI's playbook and try to encourage their NMC guys to leave?

A Vlasic buyout isn't great, but it would have saved a similar amount of cap without losing their best player.

I'm shocked that they found someone to take his contract. I think he still has some gas in the tank, so we'll see what he can do in Carolina.

this is a great first move for Grier in remaking the team.
