I'm 100% putting this on Treliving.

I'm also not saying fire Treliving.

We all learn from our mistakes, and if Treliving spearheads a rebuild? He has learned from his mistakes and can be better.

If he tries to "win" today? He has learned nothing and he should be fired.

When Treliving was asked about whether there was any news on the Tkachuk front, you could feel the anguish coming from him. He sounds like he is completed defeated.

Honestly, he doesn't inspire confidence or sound like he has a plan or direction. He said that maybe it is time to be patient, and maybe not. Things move fast. Better sort it out.

Selfish act by the player to take this to the deadline. No respect for the team or his UFA/RFA teammates who’s fates hung in the balance of John’s decision

This wasn't a family decision. He was always going to walk. Completely selfish.

That decision will come from ownership.

Johnny B. Gone.

Saddest day as a > 3 decade Flames fan...

Can't even get into what SHOULD be the next steps for this management/ownership group that we are unlikely see come to fruition.

For those saying management should have traded Johnny before his NTC kicked in, I’d like to hear a scenario - like what would the trade return be, etc. I just can’t seem to understand how this is such a huge #### up by Tre. To me, this is just the way the system is set up… RFA gives the team leverage, UFA gives the players.

Whether or not the defeat I hear in his voice comes from a belief he won’t be executing that rebuild, or it’s disappointment that Johnny made the decision he did, well…
Wells the time effort and stability that they had with Gaudreau on the ice and off is now gone, and has to be made up for in other areas.

I am sure there were behind the scenes ups and downs behind the scenes with
him and the Flames and Treliving especially given the coaching situations, over the years, that JG and Brad dealt with together and JG got back up to this level of being a superstar and now goes away.

How on earth did this boost his value? The Flames have no obligation to tell other teams how much money Gaudreau turned down, and even if they did, those teams have no obligation to match that offer.

Gaudreau is now in a new negotiation under different rules (multiple teams involved, no 8th year allowed), and everything that came before this is thrown out.

The Iginla situation was miss handled IMO, but that wasn’t Tre.

This one didn’t work out, but I have zero issue with how this was handled. No trade for Johnny that we could have had prior to NTC imo would have been good enough. You can’t replace a player like Johnny easily. I for one am glad our GM did what he could to try and keep him, including some of the moves made this year to show we’d invest in being a contender. Happy our GM didn’t assume defeat and rolled the dice on being able to keep him given where Johnny is in his career. Sucks it didn’t work out, but I’m happy they went all in on him.

Didn't want to play in Columbus (which some compared to Calgary in the last hour). Didn't want to play in Winnipeg. Just a hunch but he's not likely going to want to play in Calgary. Don't like the player anyway. Seems like a diva.

I just hope they announce whichever direction the team is heading.

If its a rebuild - tell the fanbase. We are ready.

If we're looking at a rebuild because of Johnny it seems to me that shopping Markstrom might be a good idea and worth a couple prospects and picks.

Brutal day for the franchise. Just brutal. No silver lining. None.
