You shouldn't. Everything is right on schedule as predicted. Gross is just doing his job, taking it as far as he can until he gets the best deal for his client. There is nothing to worry about, be patient.

I'm not going to hold it against him if he goes home. But I'm going to be pissed if he leaves us for a team not named Devils, Flyers or Islanders.
still choosing to be optimistic though. Hope he'll do a Stamkos/Landeskog and sign that 8 year deal just before the deadline.

I'm not liking the speculation that the Flames have already offered 10.5 and it's not enough. 11 mil + is to much.

I don’t see Philly with the deAngelo signing being possible. Jersey might back up the truck
I still remain optimistic he signs here

I sincerely hope you are right man. I'm a pessimist so I always expect the worst so when happy things happen I am pleasantly surprised.

is it though? Yeah, it's a lot, especially before the cap goes up ... but we also have Lindholm at a ridiculous deal for two more seasons, so I feel that would kind of even out. If you need to up your offer for your top player by 500k or 1m, I'd rather they do that and save that 0.5-1.0m somewhere else. Obviously I'd prefer 10.something, but if you have to go 11, I think you have to go for it.

There has to be a limit to the amount people are prepared to pay for tickets. I suspect the flames are just about there considering the success of last year but still having plenty of seats empty. Relying on TV deals to increase the cap each year is dangerous. These players get payed plenty and it would do the NHL a world of good if it could call a halt to cap increases for a while. Yes I know the CBA deals with it.

Matty will want 12 in this case...then we have 2 hugely paid wingers in 2 years with a center looking for a big time raise

I wonder if Pitt not signing Malkin is a precursor to signing Jonny.

That's what I was wondering too, and with Burke there now...

Has there ever been a team that won the cup and their best player was a UFA?

LOL. Any franchise that gives $12mil to Tkachuk might as well fold their tent right now.

If JG gets 11+M you can bet your bottom dollar that MT is going to be wanting 11M at least. If the club pay JG 11+M you have to then move MT if you then want to put a half decent team on the ice.

Rather have an 11.5 mil Gaudreau than a 10 million 4th line. This team likes to pay big dollars for middle and bottom of the roster players. God forbid they pay the franchise player his money and have to impose some cost discipline elsewhere

This makes a lot of sense, especially given the fact that Burke is their President. Jonny on Crosbys wing would be incredible.

Chucky will ask for huge money anyway. I doubt Johnny getting 11.0m instead of 10.5m would move the needle all too much in that regard.
but for some reason, I'm less optimistic about Chucky signing long-term than Johnny anyway.
