Good for Tuulola, IMO he could really light up the FEL for a bit and become a fan favourite. I like this guy. Sad to see him leave but hopefully it's on good terms still.

I've heard second-hand that the team won't be called the "Calgary Heat," that the organization is retiring the name.
Did some sleuthing on Canadian patent search and noticed both "Cowboys" and "Wranglers" have been recently renewed by CSEC (Cowboys at the end of May). "Wranglers" still has an open claim by the Wrangler clothing manufacturer, but the Dallas Cowboys have settled, and are okay with other usages as long as CSEC doesn't use the name for a football team (say the Arena League).
Centennials, Wranglers and Cowboys were all used by the Hitmen for their Corral Series of a few years ago. Of course now, there is no more Corral. We'll see if there's another promotion, but my guess is that the new AHL team will take a page from the city's past and call themselves the Cowboys in homage.
No other Calgary hockey team names have recently been registered (Inferno is still kicking around though).
Of course I could be out-to-lunch, as I often am.

It won't happen, but calling them the Calgary Bearcats would be a great tribute to Bearcat Murray, given his contribution to pro athletics in Calgary.

I like the name Bearcats but know it won't be so.
Not sure about wranglers either.
Cowboys ....meh.
Scorchmen....hmmmm.
What other western inspired names do we have?
- outlaws
- gunslingers
- posse
- mustangs
- bandits
- Rustlers
- Spurs
Or maybe no westen related names.
Wonder if CSEC starts a contest to name the squad?

Stockton had a "Name the Team" contest, although the outcome was already pre-determined.
I remember everyone from CalgaryPuck writing in "Stockton Scorch." I'm sure they were inundated and that was the most popular suggestion.

The WHL schedule is out. The Hitmen are still listed as playing at the Saddledome for the season.

Hitmen home games: 17 Sunday afternoon, 1 Saturday afternoon, and 1 Wednesday afternoon. 6 Friday evenings, 4 Saturday evenings, and 5 Wednesday evenings.
Not a lot of weekend evening action. I wouldn't be surprised if a few of the Sunday 2:00 pm games are followed by Heat games in the evening.

There are 27 weekends in the WHL season, and the Hitmen play a total of 4 Saturday night home games (one of which is at the end of September, before the NHL/AHL seasons start) and 6 Friday nights.
