In a way yeah, because it's not what he wanted, it was just used as a threat to get what he really wanted, and that was a one way ticket to New York.

So yeah, monster, piece of crap, dishonorable trash, use whatever term you'd like.

Thank goodness they're not all like that or we would have never had Johnny.

Maybe to some degree. But I don’t think most fans have committed to the same level of delusion nor will their pettiness be long lasting

My sad prediction? Johnny gets an eight year sign and trade deal that involves Monahan and a late pick going with him to the Flyers for Courturier, some middling players and an earlier pick. Monahan cries at the press conference. Treliving uses the cap space to try to plug the gaps in vain.

What a BS post . You are basically saying anybody who doesn’t get upset if Johnny leaves is a fair weather fan. If Johnny leaves IMO it’s because of family and nothing else. I will not hold a grudge against a decision like that. I’ve followed this team religiously since the early 80’s . I can safely Say I am not a fair wether fan. If anything I’m probably addicted to anything and everything flames.

If we are losing JG...i would take that deal in a nanosecond.

Sad prediction? That’s probably a best case scenario at this point. I find it unlikely Johnny stays and this beats losing him for nothing.

If Johnny for some reason is choosing Philly he is going to want courturier on the team .

Good lord if losing Johnny resulted in the loss of Monahan's dead cap and the addition of Couturier I'd take that loss any day considering in that scenario we'd be losing Johnny anyways.

That's just it, if Tre makes him a great offer and he chooses to walk away, it's clearly about something other than money. Given how much he has expressed a desire to stay, if he walks despite the team doing all it can on their end I would be quite disappointed. It would tarnish the shine on feelings about cheering for him. That's all.

Why would Philly take Monny and give up Courturier to get a guy they can sign as a UFA for nothing?

The deal your propose is likely even better than signing Johnny.

History says you are wrong. Just look at the responses of fan bases in history from similiar situations.

I rewatched Gaudreau post season interview and I know you can over analyze these things, but it definitely did not leave me with the feeling that he was going to re-sign. It left a lot of doubt for me actually. Lots of talk about the past and comments about how he hopes to be remembered as a Flame and then some last second comment about maybe being stuck with him, that sounds more like him trying to lighten the mood.

Almost every NHL player plays far from their family/friends but because some hack beat writer put out the narrative for click bait it gives the boo hoo bunch something to run with. |
Wow, is that ever the pot calling the kettle black!

I just watched. It's definitely ambiguous. He has a lot of very positive things to say about the team and the city, and says that it would be a great place to win the cup and that everyone wants to be back here, but he's also clearly non-committal about next season and re-signing.
