I mean contextually that was about as difficult as it gets, if he makes a poor shot he probably loses the tournament. Instead he pulled off a fairly remarkable shot.

Brooks!!

So Koepka is either obnoxiously trolling golf fans during the most volatile time in modern golf history….. or he’s going to LIV.

Either way, he stripped “PGA TOUR” out of his bio. https://twitter.com/bkoepkatracker/s...51855892066304

Probably misses his buddy Bryson and wants to continue their rivalry on the Liv tour.

The move seems to be official:

Considering how often he talks about not caring about golf I'm a little surprised he wasn't the first one to jump ship. But he's also all about the money so waiting to see what everyone else got was smart, should be getting $200 million no problem. Sounds like a few more top 25 or so players could be jumping ship this week as well so should be an interesting week.

Also, Faldo is leaving CBS so you would think he'll probably end up at LIV too. Funny thing is Phil was quite obviously the natural replacement. Oh well.

I was watching Overdrive on TSN yesterday afternoon and they had a chat with Brad Faxon. Faxon said that apparently the PGA Commissioner and the Players committee are meeting today to determine what action will be taken against Liv players and that an official announcement should happen at some point this week.

Unless it's a ban from the majors it won't stop guys from defecting. But that's where the PGA Tour is totally exposed, it has no control over the majors, and that is really the only leverage that can stop defections. Suspensions or bans from the tour aren't going to matter even slightly, they are quite obviously already cool leaving the tour.

Yeah once guys saw Bryson get $200 million it was always going to lead to more guys defecting. Saudis probably gonna be spending north of $5 billion on player acquisition costs lol. But when your ROI is "Talk nicer about us" and you have $1.3 trillion, money doesn't matter.

Hovland and Morikawa have been in a few rumours lately. It's hard to know until they actually go.

Those 2 would be the first top 10s, and would probably be the first 2 defections that really hurt the pga tour.

The PGA tour seems pretty tight with the Masters and PGA of America, so I wouldn't be surprised if those 2 banned them from their events and the Open championships likely want to stay neutral and open. But who knows!

What happens to some of the journeyman pga tour guys who went to liv early and get bumped out by new defections? They probably have the most to lose.

LIV seems to be taking all the guys that are hard to like, which is great! Didnt Koepkas brother go to?

Reed
Dechambeau
Koepka
Mickelson

Also just saw this

A source confirmed that Abraham Ancer, who is ranked 20th in the world, also is leaving the PGA Tour for LIV Golf.

Yup. After seeing a pretty shameless display from Vettel this past weekend it seems like it is money well spent.

Wonder if the PGA Tour is gonna go the shotgun route too...

Limited field events in fall, no cut $20M purse.

yeah, PGA is in a world of hurt if most of the top players go. Saudi Prince is splashing money and putting his country first. His goal is to create a sporting hub.

Interesting, but the top 50 from the previous year is a bit of a miss in my opinion. Maybe something like top X from the previous year plus the top Y from the current year (who haven't qualified based on the previous year) to round out the 50 players. For example, if they ran it this year guys like Fitzpatrick and Zalatoris would not be in the tournaments even though they are hot right now.

A PGA season is from September to August. So events in September would be the top 50 from the previous 12 months. These 8 events would be outside of the beginning of the FedEx Cup season.

Love this LIV drama - good to see them shaking up the tour.

Honestly, beyond maybe the WM Phoenix Open, Canadian Open, and some of the early season west coast tournaments; I don't think there are any regular PGA stops I make a point of watching. They tried to make the FedEx Cup playoffs a thing but I don't think anyone really cares about that - it's all about the majors.
