anecdotal but I listen to 960 more than anything else in my truck...and when I am out and about I often hear others with 960 on.

Maybe its the types of places I got to....hardware stores, hockey rinks, ect.

I'm far more likely to listen to commercials on a sports broadcast, if I am listening to music I will instantly hop to another station when commercials come on.

He does it in a way where it never feels like a slight or like its personal, just telling it like he sees it.

Whereas when other personalities on the panel pick a side it often oozes favoritism and bias, rather than just analyzing a play or period without orange or blue lenses.

somebody should tell Bieksa what a distinct kicking motion is though

ESPN was beside themselves that goal didn't count, meanwhile RSN acting like it was a normal toss up type call when that goal has been allowed for years.

I’d go farther and say it was active lobbying that it was no goal.

It’s not just the panel. Remember DeBrusk in the LA series also actively lobbying and just saying absolute crap when we could see it with our own eyes?

How about the “offside” goal with Makar when even with video evidence for a good goal, Maclean led the panel in outrage at the break.

McDavid right of way law.

Blindly ignoring the McDavid grab a stick and falling over drawing a penalty move.

Draisatl slew feet.

Nurse dirty slashing behind the play.

It’s not one thing, and it’s always in favour of the Oilers. Why are there never replays of the dirty play that we see live?

I’ll sure miss Fan960 as I’m out of market (if it comes to that), but all I ever use hnic for now is a video feed of the actual game. I also don’t know the economics of podcasting, but it has to make enough money to pay for salaries and equipment.

Not showing replays of things that should obviously require replays bothers me quite a bit. Or not showing replays when actually talking about the event in question.

I had to go online to really see the Nurse headbutt properly, and that convinced me that it was about a 5 game suspension (really it couldn't be seen as anything other than intent to injure).

I had to go online and see the NHL explanation for the Makar goal, which made the case really obviously. Sportsnet has the ability to make a call and understand the ruling, and then talk about the actual ruling during the intermission, instead of just making things up on the fly.

Some things like the McDavid right of way to the net are just weird.

I'm convinced that a lot of the outrage that we see about certain calls and events, well after the game, is just because those watching the game just weren't given the real information, or were led to misinformation for the lolz. Fox News of sports.

If they are done that's really a shame for Steinberg and the gang and us as fans.

Rogers SN (other than the FAN960) has been a disaster since acquiring the rights.

The stereo in my room as a kid was either on 66CFR for Flames games or AM106 for the sweet tunes

Someone else said it as well but for those of us Flames fans who aren't local the FAN960 is one of our few links to daily Flames chat. Would be a pity to lose that. Podcasts are great but not so much for breaking news as it happens.

Maybe we should all chip in and buy 960 from Rogers and bring CP Radio to the airwaves.

This pertains to Sportsnet 650. Corey Hirsch has quit being the colour commentator of the Canucks on SN650.

Please sack Ron MacLean. The best part about Ron was Cherry and he sold him down the road years ago. His soliloquies and musical offerings during the playoffs were cringeworthy. It was extremely embarrassing and painful to watch. Give it to anyone else…anyone………………..anyone.

Corey leaving is a huge loss. He’s a terrific broadcaster

Radio broadcasting has to be one of the toughest gigs to be in.

Man, people are harsh. I guess it’s just normal critique of tv personalities but I find it hard to believe the same critique would be given to Bob Cole, Ed Ehalen or Peter Maher. I think Ron did a hell of a job and still does. There’s some comfort in familiarity and with that I’d be fine if he continued. At the same time someone else does deserve a shot. I love what Hararyan Singh is doing for example.

Firmly disagree on all counts.

Down with Ron.

Apples and oranges. Cole, Whalen, and Maher were all play-by-play announcers and they were very good at their jobs, and they stuck to their proper tasks. MacLean is a host and he is no longer very good at his job, and he does not stick to his tasks. He was not hired to give amateur poetry readings on national television, nor to wax prosy about random elements of the national culture. He could do these things on his own time if he wished, but evidently he would rather use Hockey Night in Canada to furnish him with a captive audience.
