Ted Lindsay Award finalists for “most outstanding player” in the NHL, as voted by @NHLPA members: Josi (NASH), Matthews (TOR), McDavid (EDM).

Yeah I would have preferred a Josi nod over Shesterkin for the Hart but I don’t know why I’m hating on the goalies who have the Vezina vs a D man who has the Norris lol irrational

I think I agree with you kipperiggy. It's just a weird year where Josi, Makar, and Hedman all have real reasons they should win the Norris. Shesterkin got absolutely hung out to dry all year and constantly bailed his team out.
My guess is Makar wins the Norris but I'd like to see Josi take home an award this year because he definitely deserves it. I'd like to see Josi win the Ted Lindsay award.

You'd have difficulty convincing me that Josi was not the MVP this year. Based on when it might have been given to the player judged to be the most valuable player to his team, not necessarily the leagues best player.

I don't detract Shesterkin based on his lower games played, but I think it's interesting to note that he played 3071 minutes.
 Josi played 2044; Hedman 2056.

But goalies are kinda irrelevant for ~50% of their ice time, whereas neither of those D-men are ever really irrelevant.

Does the fact that when players vote on it, it still is largely the same as the Hart voting, fly sort of in the face of the premise of the Hart thread that "eastern bias exists?" I mean, the inclusion of Josi does include another player from the Western Conference, but it didn't move Johnny into the contention and it is still largely the same choices as the Hart voting. I guess I just don't see it as eastern bias as much as nominee #3 for both awards is really hard to pick between a few really deserving players.

I’d be interested to see how the voting broke down for both this and the Hart. Have a feeling it will be a pretty interesting spread.

imo, Hart should be best forward, Norris best D, Vezina best goalieNever the twain shall meet

Lindsey can be best player regardless of position

The Ted Lindsay Trophy holds more prestige and credibility than any of the other player awards, IMO.
Why? The people (active players) voting are the most knowledgeable.

Are they? I've known a few NHLers who didn't watch any games beyond their own video work.
